Kimberly Davis

The life of Kimberly Romaine Morrell began on August 15, 1966 in Lansing, Michigan to her parents, the late Reverend David Morrell and Ruth E. Williams-Morrell. She was the youngest of seven children and the only one with a middle name, Romaine, was given to her by a good friend and neighbor of the family, Mrs. Cross. She had a very close relationship with her sisters, Bea, Max, and Teresa. However, her family and friends lovingly called her Kim. "My most memorable moment of Kim is of us growing up, she was about 7 or 8 at the time. One Sunday we were all sitting at the table after dinner, just talking and eating desert. I wanted some of Kim's pie, but she told me "No!" Well, I reached across the table and took a spoonful out of her dish anyway. She looked in her dish, frowned and threw her spoon at me. It hit me right in the forehead. All of us paused for a second in disbelief, then we all just busted out laughing. Kim had really good aim." ~Teresa Kimberly was quiet yet very friendly as a young girl. She was also very intelligent. She attended and graduated from Lansing Eastern High School in Lansing, MI in 1984. Kim felt that computers were the way of the future and subsequently studied computer science at Lansing Community College. After a very brief stay in Orlando, FL, she returned to Lansing and began working for Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 1987. After hearing about the opportunities, that Denver had to offer, from her sister, Teresa, whom had recently moved there, Kim decided that she too would see what the Mile High City had to offer. She left Cooley Law and with help from her family, drove cross-country to Denver in 1990. Not long after the move to Colorado, Kim was introduced to Billy Davis of Boulder, Colorado by Teresa Morrell Scruggs and her husband. They have been in love ever since. Billy and Kim married on July 8, 1996, in Aurora, Colorado. Kimberly was the epitome of an exceptional mother and wife. She always made sure that her home was in order and her "boys" were taken care of, no matter what. Kim landed her final job at University of Colorado Hospital (UCH) around the turn of the new millennium. As a Kidney Transplant Department Secretary, she provided excellent service to every patient and doctor she came in contact with. Co-workers say that Kim was an absolute joy to work with. Whenever there was some free time, Kim could be found watching a good (sometimes not so good) horror movie, reading a sci-fi book or tending her flower garden. Kim was an employee of UCH until the time of her death. Kimberly will always be remembered for her bright lovely smile, as well as her genuine kindness and love of life. She made a lasting impression to all that was blessed to come in contact with her. Kim had an unwavering faith in God that was instilled in her at a very young age by her parents. She was preceded in death by her son, Diontee Davis; and her father, Rev. David Morrell. Kimberly Romaine Morrell-Davis departed this life to the embrace of the Lord on August 31, 2013, in Aurora, Colorado. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband Billy J. Davis, her sons Danny T. (Deanna) Morrell and David J. Davis; her mother, Ruth E. Morrel; 3 grandchildren, Elijah B. White, Danielle A. Thomas and Solomon A. Morrell; 2 brothers, Phillip (Nancy) Williams and Ronnie Morrell; 4 sisters, Beatrice M. H. Jordan, Maxine Morrell Blair, Teresa Morrell Scruggs and Ella (Clyde) Jackson; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and many friends.
