Kenneth Lynn Thomas was born in Beaumont TX, on September 16, 1959 to Betty Jean Thomas and Raymond Siemion. He was the oldest of two sons born into this family. Kenneth and his brother Kerry shared a fun loving childhood, doing what boys do. Kenneth was baptized at Blessed Sacrament Church, in Beaumont TX, at a young age.
The family moved to Denver, Colorado when Kenneth was young. He received his primary and secondary education in the Denver Public School system. Kenneth was a very good student and was a proud graduated of East High School class of 1977.
Following high school, Kenneth enlisted in the United States Army on August 16, 1977. He achieved the rank of ST4 in the Army He completed Aviation Mechanic School, Corrosion Control, Underwater EGRESS training, and was a specialized Nuclear weapon demolitionist in 1981. He also served with the U.S. Coast Guard. In 1983 he was commended and awarded the ” Commandant’s Letter of Commendation Ribbon Bar with the Operational Distinguishing Device, for securing of helicopters, missile hazards, and securing the Air Station of Houston TX, while hurricane Alicia was active and in winds of 50 knots. He was a member, and served as Sergeant of Arms within the American Legion Lodge, Post 29, dedicated and motivated to make a difference. Kenneth also earned a degree at ITT Technical Institute in applied Science for Drafting and Design in 2015.
In 1982, Kenneth met the love of his life, Shirleen Harris. They married 1983 and to this union came third children, Kenneth II, Andrea, and Kenya. He was a loving husband and devoted father. He was a wonderful provider. Kenneth worked hard to make sure his family had what they needed. He was equally committed to his grandchildren. Family time was always his priority.
Camping, mining for gold, and lessoning to Old School music, like the Commodores, are some of the activities that Kenneth truly enjoyed. He was a gifted woodworker. He built cabinets, tables, shelfs and other items giving them his special touch.
Kenneth was a man of God. He was an active member of Inspirational Deliverance Church under the leadership of Pastor Willa Chandler. He was dedicated to the work of the church and lived the great command to "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind, ...Love thy neighbor as yourself..."
On July 14, 2019,, Kenneth departed this earthly life to receive his eternal reward. Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 36 years, Shirleen, children Kenneth II, Andrea Lowe, and Kenya Jackson, his mother Betty Jean Thomas, father ?, his brother Kerry Thomas, 14 grandchildren, three great grandchildren, a host of other relatives and devoted friends.
