Karmen Roberta Louise Tuggle was born on August 6, 1956, in Denver, Colorado to her parents, Eva L. Hawkins and Alvin A. Hawkins, Jr., she was raised surrounded by brothers, Delano, Alvin, III, Leecho and her sisters, Deborah, and Tabitha. As a child, she enjoyed caring for the family dog kennel and babysitting her younger cousins. She was also remembered as driving for her father when he had been a bit to social to drive. She loved driving his vintage classic cars. Karmen received her formal education in Denver, where she graduated from Manual High School. She met Emmett Lee Kelly "Lee Lee" and to this union a son they named, LaVron LaDell Lee Hawkins was born. He remembers his mother as a loving and nurturing mother whose pride and joy was the care of her son. She always made his birthday and Christmas special regardless of any circumstance. She was stern with discipline but did it out of love and compassion. She taught him about many life's lessons that he now shares with his children. She was later blessed with four grandchildren, LaTroy, T'Airah, Giovahni, Julian and Jeremy, who all have shared many happy and memorable moments together. They affectionately called her "Grandma Karmen" and fondly remember her taking them trick or treating on Halloween and her cooking for them. By profession, Karmen was a Psychiatric Technician employed by the Wheat Ridge Regional Center. She is remembered as being hard-working, dedicated and performing her duties with a spirit of excellence. She was a natural born leader and was able to handle stressful situations, as well as handle sensitive matters with professionalism and compassion. Karmen accepted the Lord as her personal savior at a very early age. She joined Zion Baptist Church in 1961, under the pastoral leadership of the late Reverend Wendell T. Liggins. Karmen was a fun loving woman, who enjoyed life and those she encircled. In her free time, she enjoyed listening to music, using her keen eye for classic cars, and watching movies. She was an avid Denver Bronco fan and enjoyed watching and attending the games. She will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this kind and wonderful lady. To know Karmen was to love her. Karmen is preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Eva Hawkins. Karmen Roberta Louise Tuggle departed this life on May 10, 2016, in Aurora, Colorado. Those left to cherish her memory and mourn her loss include her son, LaVron L.L. Hawkins of Denver; three brothers, Delano S. (Letitia) Horace, Alvin A. Hawkins, III, both of Denver, and Leecho London of Anoka, Minnesota; two sisters, Deborah Ivory of Denver and Tabatha (Ed) Linzie of Columbia, MO; four grandchildren, LaTroy T. Hawkins of Oklahoma City, OK, T'Airah R. Martinez of Denver, Giovahni L. Hawkins of Aurora. Julian R. Hawkins of Denver and Jeremy Augustus of Oklahoma City, OK, and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins other relatives and many friends.
