Karen Thomas

August 3, 1955 — January 10, 2016

Karen Marie Frazier Thomas was born on August 3, 1955, in Denver, Colorado to her parents, Andrew Frazier and Gladys Griffin Frazier. She was the only child born to this union. She received her formal education in Denver, where she graduated from Manual High School, and furthered her education by attending Mercy Nursing School. In July of 1976, Karen wed Daryl Thomas. They first met while attending a social gathering on Lowry Air Force Base. This marriage was later dissolved. On June 5, 1987, Karen united in holy matrimony to Robert L. Simpson. They met while attending a social gathering. Karen is the proud mother of two beautiful children, a daughter she named Shanell and a son named Robert A. From her union of marriage, she became the mother of Michael, David, Crystal and Tammy. The family shared many happy and precious moments together. They fondly remember step dancing together, sending morning texts, and having lots of family love and support. Karen was later blessed with nine grandchildren, Chakeer, Shamarr, Jaleel, Jamar, Darrell, Natasha, Shkhelley, Rajana, and Reginald. They lovingly called her "granny" and fondly remember her daily text "5083" love and all the happy and memorable moments they shared together. By profession, Karen was employed by Salvation Army. She is remembered as being hard working, dedicated, and working well with her fellow co-workers. She had been with the company for over 18 years. A woman of faith and belief in the Lord, Karen attended New Hope Baptist Church in Denver as a child and played the piano. She later attended worship experiences at Harvest Christian Center in Aurora, Colorado. She worshipped under the pastoral leadership of Bishop Foreman. She was a member of the Denver Divas and shared with the Mountain Temple, #174. Karen was a fun loving woman, who enjoyed life and those she encircled. In her free time, she enjoyed spending quality time with family and friends. She loved shopping, watching movies, and visiting McDonalds to purchase her Mocha Frappes with whip cream and caramel drizzles. She will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this one of a kind woman. To know Karen was to love her. Karen Marie Frazier Thomas departed this life to the embrace of the Lord on January 10, 2016, in Denver, Colorado. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Robert L.
