Kalamah Patrece Woldemariam, daughter of Tamla Patrece Woldemariam and the late Benyam Melaku Woldemariam, was born in Denver, Colorado on April 23, 1998. Kalamah's first name comes from a phonetic spelling of her paternal grandmother's name, Kelemuwa, and the middle name that she shares with her mother, is a derivative of Patricia, her maternal grandmother. Kalamah was as unique as her name. Preferring to be called "KK", she was known to jokingly warn others about using her "government name". KK's spirited personality and sense of humor were obvious at an early age, and her smile could light up a room. An active, outgoing young lady, she had many interests and talents. KK played drums, taught herself to play keyboard and guitar, and had over eight musical instruments. A self-proclaimed "skater", she enjoyed skateboarding and was so proud of her longboard that her mother gave her as a gift. KK pursued her passions wholeheartedly, as evidenced by her large collection of bowties, neckties, and hats in particular. In fact, she was known to carry extra hats and caps so that she could change throughout the day. When she got her first job, working at a newly opened Pangea Salon, she helped out in any way possible, even handing out cards and brochures on the streets to bring in customers. She learned quickly, and was even known to give a little free hair care advice to anyone who would listen. She loved cooking, and completed a Youth Employment Academy with internship at the Osage Café, where she was recently employed. Last spring, she discovered how to make lollipops, and spent hours experimenting with different flavors and shapes. While she enjoyed making them, she also had an entrepreneurial side, and sold them to friends and family. She loved the color red, and anything Batman. In addition to owning numerous items of Batman apparel, it was not unusual to come into a room and have her turn to greet you wearing a Batman mask. KK attended schools in Georgia and Colorado, and was most recently enrolled at Vista Academy. In addition to her mother, Tamla, she leaves behind her brother, Jauhn "JT"; sister, Tai'li, grandparents, Tyrone and Patricia Bolton of Colorado, Kelemuwa Tekeste of Ethiopia, and Melaku Woldemariam of California. Others left to cherish her memory include her twin nieces Amiyah and Nyelah; nephew Jhaetei; her aunt Tyreesha Maya (Phil); great grandmother Annie Manns of Tennessee; and a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends. "If ever there is tomorrow when we're not together .There is something you must always remember. You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. But the most important thing is, even if we're apart.. I'll always be with you." Winnie the Pooh (A.A. Milne)
