Julia Siobhan Gray Baker was born in Louisville, Kentucky on June 12, 1980 to Willie Ray Gray, Sr., and Peggy J. Gray. She was the third child and only daughter. She grew up with her older brothers Willie Ray Gray, Jr. and Chadwick Lowell Gray, and younger brother Jonathan Edward Gray, who preceded her in death.
The family moved to Denver, Colorado in June 1985. Siobhan, the name used by her family and friends, graduated from George Washington High School in 1998, after which she attended Tennessee State University in Nashville.
While attending TSU, she met Akeem Abdul Baker, whom she married in 2002. Although the marriage did not last, it resulted in the birth of their handsome son, Akeem Rayshawn Baker. After returning to Denver, Siobhan met Luke Nathan Thomas, a union that produced a lovely son named Jerome Lathan Thomas.
Siobhan worked as a photographer at Walmart in Nashville, as well as a customer service representative for Caremark, where she excelled and won awards for her skills in serving Medicare Part D recipients. After moving back to Denver, she worked as a vault teller and assistant manager at Moneytree for 13 years. She excelled in this position as well and won awards for her great customer service skills. Co-workers and customers alike admired her; many customers only wanted to be served by her.
Siobhan, a “PK” (preacher’s kid), was baptized at the Park East Church of Christ on May 22, 1988 by her father. She participated in the youth program, and she enjoyed singing.
Siobhan was a Girl Scout along with her best friend since they were five years old, Nakesha Holloway. She had many friends who were at her house a lot, including two of her best friends, Brandy Stewart and Abena Williams.
Siobhan will be remembered for her beautiful smile, outgoing personality, tactfulness accompanied by straightforwardness, and as a committed daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. Most of all, however, she will be remembered as an outstanding and loving mother.
Julia Siobhan Gray Baker departed this life on March 1, 2021, in Denver, Colorado. She leaves to cherish her memory, her parents Willie and Peggy Gray of Denver, Colorado; her children, Akeem Rayshawn Baker and Jerome Lathan Thomas, Aurora, Colorado; brothers Willie Ray Gray, Jr. and Chadwick Lowell Gray, Denver, Colorado; a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
