Juanita Rumph

September 12, 1944 — February 27, 2018

A blessing was delivered to Catherine and Felix Crockett in Oakley, Kansas on September 12, 1944 in the name of Juanita Corrine Rumph. Juanita was the 6th child of 9 children born in the family. At the age of ten years old, the family moved from Kansas to Colorado. She received her formal education in the Denver Public Schools District while she attended Globeville Elementary and Cole Middle Schools. After middle school, Juanita started working as a housekeeper. While working as a housekeeper, she was introduced to the Engel Family, and began working for them in 1973. She was dedicated, committed, always working in excellence, and twenty years later, in 1993, she retired. Juanita loved God and God definitely had his loving hands on her. She was a faithful member of New Jerusalem Church for many years. She was a missionary and the church secretary. Most recently Juanita joined Peaceful Rest Baptist Church. Outside of church, Juanita really liked watching winter sports like ice skating, hockey, and snowboarding. On a daily basis, you could catch Juanita, “Sitting here looking silly,” as she would say, as she watched those popular game shows: Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune and The Price is Right, oh and let’s not forget, the News! Plants, trinkets, and elephants filled her home, she loved them. She made room for everything given to her. “We can’t forget that Juanita loved her garden, the front of her home was the prettiest thing on the block and you better not pick her flowers!” She would harass you about getting pictures of family, especially new babies, school pictures and graduations. Juanita truly loved her family and friends, she cherished every moment she spent with them: keeping every picture and making note of important dates. For 35 years, Juanita lived in the same home at Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd and Franklin. All of her family and friends were welcome to stop by whenever they liked, yelling “Hey Nita,” as they approached her door. On any given night, you could walk in on a card game; Big Wiz or Tonk. With either game Juanita was playing, she was winning. She would win and give everyone scratch tickets or lotto tickets as a gift. Juanita knew that one day, just one day somebody would win big money. Without even knowing it, we had already hit it big, she was our jackpot. Juanita is preceded in death by her brothers Leroy and Butch Crockett; sister, Shirley Crockett; and a grandchild, Harmony Lucas .On February 27, 2018, Juanita Corrine Rumph departed this life to embrace the Lord and began watching over us from Heaven. She is and will always be loved by her 3 children: Isaiah Taylor Jr; his daughters Latoya and Samantha and son Isaiah III, Stephanie Garham; her daughters Christine and Melanie and son Anthony, Anthony (Tony) Lucas; his daughters Latavia, Imani, Idacia, Harmony, Toni and sons Ernest, Malik, Demarcus, Anthony, and Conyeh; her siblings Donna Jean Hoover, Felix Crockett, Cleo Crockett, Leroy Crockett, Ronald Crockett (Berta), Butch Crockett, Shirley Crockett, and Beverly (Crockett) Pope; 13 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
