Joyce Walker

Joyce Yvonne Walker was born on April 8, 1956 in Fort Carson, Colorado to her proud parents, John Walker, Sr. and Willie Mae Gendraw Walker. Joyce was the fifth of nine children born to this union. She grew up surrounded by her siblings, Taylor, Juanita, John, Jr., Angelo, Elaine, Gail, Al, and Gabriel. She was known as a warrior and a nurturer all of her life. Joyce attended William J. Palmer High School in Colorado Springs, Colorado where she excelled and received many awards. Upon graduation, Joyce continued to dream big. Joyce went on to gain knowledge by attending the Montgomery College and studying Business Administration. A true entrepreneurial spirit, Joyce chased her dreams with determination and passion, following many paths in addition to her 25 year career in telecommunications. She was also unwaveringly committed to advancing her education, and took college classes from the time her daughter was a young girl until the last few months of her life. Joyce was the proud mother of one beautiful daughter, Jonielle. Joyce motivated and encouraged Jonielle to excel in everything she did. Joyce was also a strong believer in controlling her own destiny. She wanted everyone else in her family to do the same, and always tried to motivate them through in-home product demonstrations, sales pitches, hotel seminars, and forced participation. Her desire for self-improvement and self-sufficiency was and will forever be a constant source of inspiration to her family. She was a fiercely loving mother, an awesomely sweet grandmother, as well as a devoted daughter, loyal sister, and a favorite aunt. Her smile could light up a room. She leaves us all with a lifetime of memories of her many adventures and misadventures, and with deep holes in our hearts. Joyce was preceded in death by her father, John Walker, Sr.; her mother, Willie Mae Walker; her brothers, Angelo Walker, Taylor Walker; and her niece, Jacqueline Walker. Even though her family will miss her dearly, they find comfort in knowing that she is not alone, and that she is with her parents, brothers, and niece, surrounded by their love. Joyce Yvonne Walker departed this life on November 30, 2014 in Denver, Colorado. Those she leaves with a lifetime of memories and they that mourn her loss include her daughter, Jonielle Walker; her granddaughter, Jyona Walker; her siblings, Juanita (James) Perry, John (Yun Hui) Walker, Jr., Phyllis Walker, Gail (Kenneth) Evora, Alonzo (Dana) Walker, Gabriel (Judie) Walker; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
