Jovann Ray

January 9, 1990 — July 17, 2018

Jovann Llewelyn Ray was born on Tuesday, January 9, 1990 to his parents, Michel Ray and Edward Ray. Jovann, known as “Joe” to friends in family, was the third child born to the family. He grew up surrounded with the love and companionship of his siblings, Arick, Jasmine, Sadonna, and step-siblings, Dakwane and Kendra. As a child, Jovann was as unique as it gets! He loved playing a range of sports, and video games, and he also enjoyed playing pranks on his parents and siblings. His favorite sport in those childhood days was basketball. He was a stellar athlete and his love for the sport and natural abilities would follow him into his teenage years. His passion for basketball would earn him a spot on the A Team in Middle School. He developed a quickness on the court, and this skill allowed him to be fantastic in Track & Field as well. He was known as a “Beast” and took his team to the State Championships in 2007 and 2008, placing 4th overall in both years. Jovann received his formal education within the Aurora Public Schools, graduating from Rangeview High School in 2008. He was as smart academically as he was athletically gifted. He was a determined student; intelligent and very articulate. Jovann had a fearless personality and a passion for the outdoors. These characteristics allowed him to expand his horizons after graduating from High School. He would travel many places with his adventurous spirit and independent nature. He lived in a few states in his life, including: Colorado, Oregon, and Texas, just to name a few. Jovann also had the gift of gab. His fun-loving personality and slick talk allowed him to be successful as a Sales Manager, a job that allowed him more opportunities to expand upon his love for travel. He was not only a dreamer but had an entrepreneurial spirit. He would turn dreams into reality when he went on to found Mile High Screen Printing. His hard work and perseverance is what lead his company to be successful. Jovann loved Anime (a style of hand-drawn animation that originated in Japan), which played a major part in his love of drawing. He could spend hours creating new ideas and bringing them to life. Always looking for the next adventure in life, once Jovann achieved success with Mile High Screen Printing, he started investing in Crypto Currency. He was one of the first people to understand the complexity and value of these investments. Jovann was the perfect blend of his mother and father, getting his loving, creative and compassionate side from his mother, and his adventurous, independent, book-loving side from his father. He got his crazy sense of humor from the both of them! He never let anything hold him back from pursuing the things he wanted in his life. He enjoyed his life of traveling the world, spending time with his family, meeting new people, investing and trying new things. He also loved superheroes, and this definitely played a major part in his life. Jovann was EVERYTHING that you could imagine a good person should be. He was very understanding, compassionate and generous. He was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. There was nothing that he wouldn’t do to make sure that everyone around him felt safe and supported. Jovann was known for his infectious laugh and his charismatic personality. Anyone who ever had the gift of being in his presence will remember how he made people feel more special than anyone else they would ever meet. Jovann Llewelyn Ray departed this life on July 17, 2018 in Denver, Colorado. He will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this free spirited and ambitious man. He wanted nothing more in life than to succeed at everything he was and did. Those left to cherish his memory and mourn his loss are his child, Komdy Ray; his mother, Michel Ray; his father, Edward Ray; his siblings, Sadonna Ray, Jasmine Dotson, Eric Dotson; his grandparents, Llewellyn and Carla Thomas, Stan Alexander, and Lifa Father; nieces and nephews, Seonna Ray, Akia Dotson, Jayvon Dotson, Eric Dotson, Jr. and a host of cousins, other relatives, and many friends.
