Joseph Taylor, Jr.

May 25, 1999 — March 19, 2015

My name is Joseph Christopher Taylor, Jr. I was born on May 25, 1999, at 10:06 pm, in Presbyterian St. Luke's Presbyterian Hospital in Denver, Colorado. My parent's names are Joseph C. Taylor Sr. and Gerilyn C Williams. Both of my parents have younger siblings. My mother is the second born of a family of 4 and my father is the oldest child on his side of my family three. I have two older brothers; their names are Terrance and Tre'Von. I also have five other brothers and two sisters as well. Therefore, my mother married into the Holiday family and now I have 3 more siblings. An older brother named Shae, a little brother named Bomani and a younger sister named Mahala. My father was in a long-term relationship with Joanne Winn. I have siblings from that relationship as well, two younger brothers, Evan and Elijah and we all love video games and sports. I have two older siblings who are Deja and Eric. When I was a little kid, my dad and I would go to all kinds of different stores. I remember when we were in the stores and my dad was in line to pay for our items, I would always race to the cashier to see if I could count the money faster than them and their machines. I always won! Yep that is right… I came in first place every single time! As a child, I have a lot of child hood memories, for example, when I was just a toddler, I learned how to walk. I started walking at the tender age of five months. A few years later, when I was just four years old, I got stuck climbing in and out of a doggy door. Another child hood memory, I have is of all the football I played throughout my life! My dad started me playing football at the age of five. My dad coached me all my life until I was thirteen years old. I played in my first super bowl game when I was 8 years old. We played in the Arapahoe Youth League, and the team challenging us was the Dolphins. We played a hard fought game for a bunch of eight year olds. This little league game went into triple overtime and we ended up losing by just one point. The final score was 7 to 8, them. I was very sad we lost to the Dolphins, but as time went on and I played in more and more games, I got over losing a super bowl at the age of eight. Another child hood memory I have is always traveling. I was always going somewhere, either with my "Home Skillet" and my "Nanny 911" or my father (Home Skillet is my grandpa and Nanny 911 is my grandma). On average, I traveled to Omaha, Nebraska every six months. If I was not traveling to Omaha, then I was going to annual family reunions with my grandparents. One time while attending a family reunion with my grandparents, we stayed at the "W"! The W is a hotel and resort combination. That was pretty exciting, but for me since I was still kind of young, all I really cared about was the food! The food was awesome! I ordered room service, and I got the biggest sandwich ever! I was so excited, and I ate it all by myself. However, the absolute fondest childhood memory is of the time I went fishing in Omaha with my Home Skillet. We got up early and drove to a fishing hole in Nebraska. I was very excited and I told my grandpa that I would catch more fish than he did. Guess what, I was correct! On my very first fishing expedition, I caught one medium size bass. My grandfather did not have such luck. As a student, I love school! It is very exciting, and I learn something new and different every day. Not to mention all of my bros and my home girls are there as well. Another reason I like school is because of the numbers. I really like numbers. I like counting them, subtracting them, multiplying and dividing them. My goal is to work with numbers in one form or another. I have taken all kinds of math classes. I have taken pre-algebra, algebra and geometry. I also like to read; because of my Granny 911, I am an avid reader. I joined my first summer school book reading club with my dad. After that, I started going back and forth to Omaha every summer and my Nanny and I would spend all summer reading. Getting good grades in school is an absolute must. Luckily, Nanny 911 taught this lesson very early therefore, excelling in school became second nature. While in the seventh grade, I achieved my first 4.0 grade point average. Boy was I excited, my dad just bragged and bragged about how smart I was! During that summer, I took the next upper level math class. I was very successful in that class. I actually earned the highest grade in the class and I was the youngest student in the class! Boy was that AWESOME! There were ninth and tenth graders in the class, and here I am just completing the seventh grade and I am out performing high school students! I am a member of Loving Saints Christian Fellowship Church and my pastor is Pastor Kraig Burleson. I was baptized at the age of ten. It was my choice, and it was a milestone in my life. God has always been very important to my family and me; I went to church regularly with my dad, my mom and with my grandparents as well. I believe in the power of prayer and that God never fails. Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. Joseph Christopher Taylor, Jr. departed this life to the embrace of the Lord on March 19, 2015, in his home in Denver, Colorado.
