OBITUARY
John C. Parker, Jr.
John C. Parker Jr. was born August 5, in Warren, Georgia to his loving parents, John C. Parker Sr. and Emma S. Parker. As the second born of six siblings, John grew up surrounded by the love and support of his family. His brothers and sisters, Nathaniel Parker, Julian Parker-Floyd, Annette Jackson-, Minister Randolph Parker and Deborah Parker-Crowley were always by his side.
John's journey took him far from home as he enlisted in the United States Army Reserve for 12 years and served three years of active duty in Germany. Immersed in a new culture filled with new foods, languages, and experiences, John embraced these adventures with enthusiasm. It was during this time that he earned the affectionate nickname "Iceberg Slim" because of his slender frame and vibrant smile.
In 1990, fate brought John to Denver, Colorado where he would meet the love of his life—Sharron. They shared many precious moments together filled with laughter and deep conversations before deciding to embark on their eternal journey together in 1995. Little did they know that this union would be blessed with a beautiful legacy supported by their nine grandchildren who affectionately called him "Papa John."
After retiring from the military, John dedicated his days to various endeavors including freight shipping and logistics, landscaping, and retail. However, his true joy came from spending time with his family and pursuing his favorite pastimes. Whether it was fishing on the lake, catching Bass, Yellow Perch, and Bluegill, or spending Sunday afternoons watching educational shows like National Geographic and animal documentaries, John found comfort and happiness in these simple pleasures.
Sgt. John C. Parker Jr. will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and friend—a man who lived life to the fullest and left an indelible mark on all those who knew him. His warm smile, infectious laughter, and unwavering love will be deeply missed. As we mourn his loss, we also celebrate the joy he brought into our lives and the lasting memories he leaves behind. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
John passed away peacefully in comforts of his home February 7, at the age 66. He leaves a legacy that will cherished forever by his wife, Sharron E. Pauling-Parker and their daughter,
Johnetta Gabrielle. Not only was he a devoted husband and father, but he also served as a father figure to Craig, Ron, and Shalonda Pauling—Johnetta's older brothers and sister.
