John Kincaid

October 18, 1956 — July 9, 2013

The pages of this book began when John Wayne Kincaid was born on October 18, 1956, in Knoxville, Tennessee to his parents, William H. Kincaid, Sr. and Catherine Simmons Kincaid. He was the second child born in the family. He was raised surrounded by his brothers, William, Jr., Allen and Richard. As a child, he was very athletic and enjoyed playing football and basketball. He enjoyed spending quality time with family and friends and was known to be a sharp dresser. A fond memory growing up was that of John begging his brother, William to ride his brand new mini bike. He finally conceded to let him and ride and within one minute, he had wrecked it. John received his formal education in Knoxville, where he graduated from Fulton High School in 1974. On June 10, 1974, John enlisted in the United States Air Force. While serving his country, he was awarded a number of awards, citations and ribbons for meritorious service. He served with honor and distinction and was honorably discharged in 1979 at the rank of Sgt. (E4). On June 27, 1987, John united in holy matrimony to Marinda McNulty. They first met in Denver and exchanged vows at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church. To this union, two beautiful daughters, Jasmine and Jessica were born. Jasmine fondly remembers her father attending all her sports activities and being the loudest cheerleader at every game. He often told her to "always do her best and follow her dreams." Jessica remembers her father being a strong supporter in her life and encouraged her to pursue her dreams. She also fondly reflects on his being the "loudest" parent on the sideline and spurring her on during sports activities. By profession, John was a Fuel Specialist employed by Conoco Phillips and Suncor Energy. He is remembered as being hardworking, dependable and working well with others. A man of faith and belief in the Lord, John accepted the Lord as his personal savior and joined First AME Zion Church in Knoxville, TN. He was a member for over 17 years. Upon relocating to Denver, he worshipped with Shorter AME Church and True Light Baptist Church. John was a fun loving man who enjoyed life and those he encircled. In his free time, he was active as a football coach for the Denver Police Athletic League and an umpire for youth baseball. He and his closest friends shared a camaraderie that was memorable and genuine. To know John was to love him. He is preceded in death by his son, Jamal Kincaid; his parents, William and Catherine Kincaid. John Wayne Kincaid departed this life to the embrace of the Lord on July 9, 2013, in Denver, Colorado. Those left to cherish his memory and mourn his loss include his two daughters, Jasmine A. Kincaid and Jessica L. Kincaid both of Denver; 3 brothers, William H. Kincaid, Jr. and Richard L.
