John Lee Jackson was born on November 16, 1932, in Shreveport, Louisiana to his parents, Booker T. Jackson and Violet Holmes Jackson. He was one of eleven children born in the family. He was raised surrounded by his brothers, Leroy, Charles, Eddie, Ralph and his sisters, Doris, Euridell, Ethel, Joyce, Bertha and Lessie. He received his formal education by graduating from Booker T. Washington High School in Shreveport, Louisiana. John was the proud father of Jeffery, Jeanette and Schonda. They shared many happy and precious moments together. On February 12, 2007, he united in holy matrimony to the former, Rachel E. Wilford. They first met while attending a social gathering in Denver, Colorado. With this union, Michael was added to the family. Rachel remembers her husband as fun-loving, a man who was insightful, and a man, who believed in the care and nurture of his family. They too have shared many happy and memorable moments together. By profession, John was a Professional Truck Driver. He was employed by ABF Trucking. He was hard-working, dependable and performed his duties with a spirit of excellence. Once he retired, he became the Owner and Operator of a charter bus service, he named, Safeway Charter. He was very proud of being his own boss and serving his patrons with dignity and always putting safety first during trips. He continued to work until 2012, when health began to decline. John was a faithful and dedicated member of Empire Lodge #1493, Improved Benevolent Protective Order of Elks of the World (IBPOEW). He has served the organization as a Trustee and he has been a active member for over twenty five years. John was a fun-loving man, who enjoyed life and those he encircled. In his free time, he enjoyed traveling; spend quality time with family and friends, and watching sports on television. His closest friend, Farnsworth Reid will miss the camaraderie's they shared together and the fact that he was a true and trusted friend. He will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this kind and wonderful man, who was patient and thoughtful. To know John was to love him. John Lee Jackson departed this life on December 7, 2016, in Aurora, Colorado. Those left to cherish his memory include his loving and devoted wife, Rachel E. Jackson of Aurora; 2 daughters, Jeanette Jackson and Schonda Midgett both of Houston, TX; 2 sons, Jeffery Jackson and Michael I. Tolbert both of Aurora; 1 brother, Ralph (Beverly) Jackson of Shreveport, LA; 3 sisters, Lessie B. Berard of Houston, Texas, Euridel Shephard of El Paso, TX and Bertha R. (Lewis) Jackson of Colorado Springs, CO; 2 grandchildren; his devoted cousin/friend, Farnsworth Reid of Aurora; and a host of nieces, nephews, other cousins, other relatives and many friends.
