Joelle Latrice Macklin was born on August 3, 1970, in California to her parents, Hazel R. Macklin Barber and Alvin Barber. She was the only child born to this union. As a child, she had an infectious smile that would light up any room she entered. She enjoyed playing with her dolls which included cooking for them. The family eventually relocated to Denver, Colorado and she received her formal education by attending Manuel High School.
Joelle was the proud mother of five beautiful children, Maurice, Kenyatta, Shaquele, Mystic, and Sole. They all shared many happy and memorable moments together. They especially remember her cooking and her creative recipes. She was later blessed with two grandchildren, Elijah and Honor. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mystic Macklin and a grandson, Honor Vincent McLauren.
By profession, Joelle was a Culinary Arts Specialist. She shared her culinary skills in many of the restaurants in the metro area. She believed that preparation was just as important as presentation.
A woman of faith and belief in the Lord, Joelle shared with many of the ministries in the area. She believed in the power of prayer and having God in her life.
Joelle was a fun-loving woman, who enjoyed life and those she encircled. In her free time, she enjoyed music, dancing, cosmetology, and spending quality time with family and friends. She truly enjoyed the special times shared with her daughters. She loved eating out and cooking her favorite meal, chicken & dumplings. She will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this kind and wonderful woman.

Joelle Latrice Macklin departed this life on September 5, 2021, in Denver, Colorado. Those left to cherish her memory include 2 sons, Maurice M. Macklin of Barstow, California and Shaquele M. Macklin of Seattle, Washington; 2 daughters, Kenyatta L. Macklin and Sole Macklin both of Denver, Colorado; 1 grandson, Elijah M. Macklin; and a host of other relatives and many friends
