Jimmy Lee Alexander, Jr., also known as “Sonny”, was born on February 16, 1965, in Sylvester, Georgia to his parents, Jimmy L. Alexander, Sr. and Eloise B. Billingslea. Jimmy was the only child for 17 years, then his brother, James Leon; and sisters, Le’Ann, and Shadra were added to the family. As a small child, Jimmy was very humble yet active. Jimmy attended school in Sylvester, Georgia and graduated from Worth County High School in 1983. While in high school, Jimmy played football. He continued his education by attending Fort Valley State University, where he received his bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering. After completing his bachelor’s degree, he moved to Prescott, Arizona and started working for the Prescott National Forest Service. Jimmy met Constance Wilkins through a mutual friend. On July 23, 1995, in Huntsville, Alabama, Jimmy and Constance would marry and become one. Jimmy was the proud father of Robert, Deja, Bryce, Zyon, and Cameron. The family relocated from Huntsville to Omaha, Nebraska, when Jimmy changed employment and started working for Avaya. Shortly after the move, their firstborn son, Robert passed away, and the family moved back to Denver, Colorado. Jimmy loved his family and his kids. Once settled in Denver, Jimmy’s chosen profession was a Program Manager. He worked for the US General Services Administration. He was a dedicated and committed worker, who loved to work with excellence. He volunteered to be a coach for Green Valley Ranch Little League Football Team, after a short period of time, he became the leader of the program. He loved coaching and the kids. This is when he met Cameron and fell in love, and from that day forward, Cameron was his son. Jimmy had a magnetic personality and a winning smile. He was very passionate about people. He was a deep thinker and loved politics and being black. He was a big Atlanta Falcons and Lakers fan. Jimmy was a joker, who was very direct. His good friends from childhood: David Cuffie, Jr., Richard Lawson, Andre Tift, Jon Johnson, Darin Billingsley; and friends from college, “Chief” Fred Hammond, “LTC” Ronnie Bell, Eugene M. Johnson, David “AMP” Allison, and Alan Fraley remember Jimmy as he truly was, a friend, and a brother. They will all miss him. Jimmy was preceded in death by his son, Robert Alexander; and his father, Jimmy L. Alexander, Sr. Jimmy Lee Alexander departed this life on October 17, 2018, in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. Those left to cherish his memory and mourn his loss include his wife, Constance W. Alexander; his children, Cameron Currington (son), Deja R. Alexander (daughter), Bryce J. Alexander (son) and Zyon L. Alexander (daughter); his mother, Eloise B. Billingslea (Stepfather, Freddie); brother, James L. Alexander; sisters, Le’Ann Alexander, Shadra Billingslea; and; and a host of aunts, uncles, other relatives and many friends.
