Jerry Williams

Life is an open book from the day we are born. Each day that we are alive, our life experiences, joys, sorrows, and adventures fill the blank pages of our story. Jerry's life story began on August 25, 1942 in St. Louis, Missouri. Jerry Will Williams was born to his parents, Frank Burke and Rosetta Tate. Jerry grew up in Kirkwood, Missouri, and was educated in the St. Louis, Missouri Public School system. Jerry accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at the First Baptist Church of Meacham Park under the leadership of Reverend E. J. Buckner. Jerry moved to Denver in the early 1970's. Jerry was united in marriage with Ora Thompson. To this union, a son and a daughter was born. He later united in marriage with Joyce Napue, and to this union their daughter, Angela was born. Even later, Jerry married Pearlie Mae Epperson. All three marriages were dissolved; however, he loved his children dearly. Jerry's professional work life consisted of being a truck driver, mechanic, janitor, and musician. Jerry drove trucks for various trucking companies for several years and traveled all over the United States. With his extensive truck driving experience, Jerry began his career as an auto mechanic and worked for many years. He was a blessing to family and friends and saved all of them a lot of money on car repairs. Jerry shared his love of cars and how to repair them with anyone who was interested. Jerry enjoyed driving cars and trucks and always volunteered to be the chauffeur for family trips. He enjoyed pointing out all the places he had seen while he was a truck driver. He loved to share his knowledge of how cities and places around the country have changed and evolved throughout the years. Jerry also appreciated music; he played the drums for a local gospel quartet for several years. He loved riding his bicycle around the city for decades until his health prevented him from doing so. Jerry enjoyed life, and made sure all family and friend gatherings were joyful with lots of laughter. He would crack jokes about anything that was on his mind. His laugh was infectious, and you could not help but laugh along with him. One of Jerry's favorite pastimes was watching old western movies on TV. He could watch John Wayne movie marathons over and over. As Jerry's health began to decline, he continued to try and make the people around him enjoy life. He would always minimize the pain he was in, and always asked how everyone else was doing. He will be missed by all who were blessed to enjoy the presence of Jerry. Jerry was preceded in death by his mother, Rosetta Williams; sister, Joyce Williams-Lee; and brother, Charles Williams, Jr. The Lord called Jerry Will Williams home on June 5, 2017 to be at peace and to rest eternally. Those left to cherish his memories include his daughter, Angela Harris of Denver, three sisters, Louise (Scott) Lester-Missouri, Joy (Riley) Williams-Missouri, Jeannie (Eddie) Hopson-California; one brother, James Williams-Missouri; aunt, Fannie Hampton-Denver, his close friend, Shirley Abraham, two grandchildren, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many many friends. Jerry's book of life may have closed on this earth, but his heavenly story will continue for eternity. Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Matthew 5:4
