Jerry Williams

November 10, 1955 — May 5, 2013

Jerry S. Williams was born on November 10, 1955, in Mobley, Missouri to his parents, Jerry Williams and Gloria J. Evans Williams. He was raised by his stepfather Fred Jackson, surrounded by his four brothers and five sisters. As a child, Jerry enjoyed singing. He was a member of the family singing group called the "Denver J's." He received his formal education in Denver, Colorado where he graduated from George Washington High School in 1975. While in high school, Jerry was a member of the track team at Aurora Central High School. He held a track record in the school for over ten years. On July 9, 1988, Jerry united in holy matrimony to the former Mae Winslow. He was the proud father of William, Tanica, Veronica, Donald, Geneva and James. They all shared many happy and precious moments together. Later, his grandchildren were an additional source of joy and pride in his life. They lovingly called him "Poppy." He truly loved the time he shared with each one of them and he was so proud and happy to be a grandfather. By profession, Jerry was employed by Forza Fitness and Performance. He was hard-working, dedicated and dependable. His co-workers and employers remember his willingness to help others, his patience, and his positive attitude. He was respected by the staff as well as the members of the athletic club. Jerry was a fun loving man, who enjoyed life and those he encircled. He was a true diehard sports fan. He loved the Denver Nuggets with an equal love for the Denver Broncos. Any logo that he found with a Denver brand, he supported. Another joy of Jerry's was that of being a self-proclaimed, "Grill Master." Each July, during the family reunion, Jerry would delight the family with his culinary grilling skills. He started preparing early and even on the day of the reunion, he was still at work. The family will truly miss his presence and regret having to retire his chef hat but they all understand, he is with the Lord and that brings solace and consolation. If he was not grilling, Jerry loved fishing, playing racquet ball, bike riding with his wife or purchasing lottery tickets. He was the epitome of courage. His positive attitude was encouraging and uplifting to everyone he surrounded. During his illness, when he attended the Denver Nuggets home games, they treated him like royalty. They embraced him with love and understanding; to them, he was "one of the fellows." He would not let anything bring his spirits down; in fact, he was the one offering encouragement and support to others. He will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this one of a kind guy, who leaves a legacy of love. To know Jerry was to love him. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry Williams, Sr., and Gloria J. Jackson Francis; and his brother, Dwayne Moulton. Jerry S. Williams departed this life to the Lord's embrace on May 5, 2013, in his home in Denver, Colorado.
