Jeannine Mayo

January 13, 1997 — September 13, 2016

Jeannine Nicole Mayo also called" Mouse or Mousey" by her family and friends. Mouse was born on January 13, 1997, to Martin and Marlene Mayo, Jeannine was the youngest child born to this union. Jeannine was raised surrounded by her siblings, one brother, Martin, II nicknamed, "Bro", and two sisters, Marlana and Gaylene, "Sis". "We remember one of our fondest memories is when the children were outside riding their motorized scooters in the parking lot. Bro and Sis's parked their scooter and Mousey, riding a little razer scooter, comes riding up to park her scooter yells out, "MAKE ROOM FOR ME!!" She hits the curb and flies over the handle bars, landing like superman face first on the grass; she jumps up and laughs." Jeannine completed her education in Denver Colorado. She went to Stedman Elementary, where her love for competition would reveal itself, soon she would run for class treasurer and win all three years she ran for that office. We would ask her why not class president; she would respond and say "I want to control the money." While attending Hill Campus of Arts and Science, she became more active, by this time, she began learning Tae Kon Do, playing volleyball, playing her mother's flute, and developing a love for softball, which Hill won state in back to back championships. Jeannine transitioned to Thomas Jefferson High School, Home of the Spartans; in this season of her life, she worked and received her black belt in Tae Kon Do. She joined the softball team and played all four years. Jeannine played competitive softball during the summer for the Colorado Outlaws and Eclipse. During Mousey's life, she would have a loving closeness with her grandparents, Ed "Papo" and Jean Gay and Flora Redd. Mousey loved cooking with her "Papo," baking and cooking up everything. Supporting her grandma, Jean, no matter what it was, smiling and laughing with her. Ed would always say "Hey baby girl you're my last wife" and Mousey would smile, showing her teeth and get whatever she wanted. Knowing Flo love for frogs, Mousey made her grandma an amazing vase in ceramic class, it was tall, all green with cat tails, lily pads, and frogs. When she received this vase her excitement was unmeasurable; she truly believed that it was store bought. From birth until today, Jeannine knew she always had the love and support from her father, mother, grandparents and family. Jeannine would keep us all busy with something to do; rather going to her band concerts, board breaking at Tae Kon Do, volleyball tournaments, Softball State Championship games, or traveling with her summer teams; she always had somewhere to go. In her senior year of high school, Jeannine was nominated for Homecoming Queen. Mousey made so many friends at T.J. There were a few who stood out, Gaby, who was always there; Bibble, Ariel and Lex, who she called her freshmen. The year 2015, Jeannine Mayo graduated high school and started working for the McDonalds on Broadway and Alameda, which was one of her childhood dreams. While working, she would continue to spend a lot of time with her nieces, J'Siana Jones "stinky" and Neveah Mayo "Baby" and they would called her "Hunty." After the summer, Mouse began her search for colleges. She had several choices from Johnson and Whales, C.U.C.S, Metro State University, and a host of out of state opportunities. Because of her love for her family, she would stay in state and enroll at Red Rocks Community College, which they had the profession and degrees she wanted to pursue. On August 31, 2015, Jeannine became ill and was taken to the hospital. After several tests, on September 1, 2015, Jeannine Nicole Mayo "Mouse" was diagnose with A.L.L. Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia. This would begin her long battle and fight with this disease. Amazingly she would still smile and have a loving attitude never asking the question "Why Me Lord? I always honored my mother and father with the respect mostly by my action." One year later, Jeannine would lose this battle but not without a fight. On September 13, 2016, Jeannine Nicole Mayo departed this life where now the Lord embraces her with all the love that she had shared here. Mousey leaves behind loving parents, Martin L. Mayo, I, and Marlene C. Mayo; her siblings, Martin L. Mayo, II, Marlana M. Mayo and Gaylene D. Swearnger; six uncles, George Quintana "G.P.", Sancho Quintana, Sr., Andre King, Charlette King, Adrian Newbern, Cliff Simm; four aunts, Monique Simms, Kim Martin, Bunny Snook, Stephane Bell; two nieces, J'Siana Jones, Nevaeh M. Mayo; as well as her over protective cousin, Sancho Quintana, Jr. and a host of other relatives and friends.
