Jay D. Robinson was born on November 12, 1949, in Grove Hill, Alabama to his parents, David L. Robinson, Sr. and Willie Mae Mitchell Robinson. He was the third child born in the family. He was raised surrounded by his brothers and sisters. Growing up, Jay loved the special time shared with his "Big Papa and Big Mama." He completed his early education by graduating from Wilson High School. Jay relocated to Denver, Colorado. It was there he met the love of his life, Cathy S. Veasley. They have been a couple for over forty five years and married for over thirty seven years. To this union, Stephanie and Ebony were born. Cathy remembers them traveling and going on road trips. She also remembers her husband as great provider and a man who great pride in the care of his family. Stephanie and Ebony remembers their dad as having a jovial personality, being neat, independent and frank in what he said and meant. They remember him saying to them, "Don't ask, if you don't want the truth." Jay was later blessed with eight grandchildren, Ryan, Blake, Jayden, Ryleigh Sue, TaeJanae, Taelor, Brooklyn and Braylen who all were an additional source of joy and pride in his life. They lovingly called him "Pops or Poppi" and fondly remember all the happy and precious moments they all shall together. By profession, Jay was employed by Lockheed Martin Aerospace Corporation as a Asset Specialist. He was hard-working, dependable, and always helpful to others. He performed his duties with a spirit of excellence. A man of faith and belief in the Lord, Jay was a member of Pine Chapel #1 Church in Grove Hill, Alabama. He believed in the power of prayer and having the right relationship with the Lord. Jay was a fun-loving man, who enjoyed life and those he encircled. In his free time, he was an avid Denver Bronco Fan and a sports enthusiast. He loved listening to music, having a well-manicured yard with the greenest grass on the block and the cleanest vehicles in the city. His closest friends, Jimmie Veasley, Brady Ester, Curtis, Aunt Mert, will miss the unconditional love shared and he being a true and trusted friend and confidante. He also carried a special bond and love for his Aunt Nonie Robinson. He will be miss by all who were fortunate enough to have known this one of a kind guy, who had a candid sense of humor and will be missed for "his trash talking" and no one off limits personality. To know Jay was to love him. Jay D. Robinson departed this life on February 23, 2017, in Aurora, Colorado. Those left to cherish his memory and mourn his loss include his loving and devoted wife, Cathy S. Robinson; 2 daughters, Stephanie P. Robinson and Ebony D. Robinson (Alvin Wiley, Jr.) all of Denver; 15 brothers and sisters, Levert Robinson of Los Angeles, CA, David Lee (Henrietta) Robinson of Annie Maine, AL, Lonzo (Brenda) Jackson of Fonzdale, AL, Johnnie B. (Christine) Robinson of Thomasville AL Johnnie Lee. (Minnie) Robinson of Grove Hill, AL, Henry Robinson of Cleveland, OH, John Paul Robinson of Arlington, AL, Larry Robinson of Denver, CO, Alberta Dumas of Vineland AL, Lucille Stacy of Detroit, MI, Dorothy Sashington of Lincoln Park, MI, Cora (George) Brown of Annie Maine, A, Willie B. (Seltzer) Chapman of Pine Hill, AL, Ruby Terrell of Detroit MI, and Joyce (Edward) Laffitte, of Grove Hill, AL; 8 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
