Janetta Knolle

February 6, 1953 — July 22, 2015

Janetta Kay Rowland was born February 6, 1953, in St. Joseph, Missouri to Forrest Botts and Carolyn Ann Rowland. Janetta and her mother re-located to Colorado when she was a child. Janetta was brought up by her mother and stepfather, Robert Alexander, as the only child. Janetta would often share memories from her childhood like how her Uncle Billy gave her the nickname "Sue". Since she was the only child, she spent a lot of time with her cousins at Aunt Sissy's house. Janetta accepted Christ into her life at the early age of 8, and was baptized at Progressive Missionary Baptist Church. As an adult, she joined Macedonia Baptist Church in Denver, Colorado under the leadership of Reverend Paul Martin. Janetta made sure to keep a close relationship with God. She read her bible daily and truly walked by faith and not by sight. Janetta attended Manual High School where she received her diploma. She went on to receive her cosmetology license in 1995 from T.H. Pickens, Aurora, Colorado. In April 1970, Janetta was blessed with her first child, Theo Ray Rowland. Shortly after Theo or "Ray Ray," as the family would call him, was born, Janetta was married to Theo Ray Collins, in May of 1973 in Denver, Colorado. In this union, not only was Janetta blessed with her second child, Onjae, but she also welcomed her step-child, Stephanie with loving and open arms. In July 1987, Janetta married her spouse, Anthony Knolle at King Baptist Church in Denver. This union was blessed by her "babygirl" Araya. Later Janetta was blessed with 11 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. They will also remember "Grandma Sue" for always being there through the good or bad times. Everyone knew they could all come to her for anything. By profession, Janetta worked in the beauty industry as a cosmetologist at Shonnell's Beauty Salon for numerous years. She was loved by all co-workers and customers for her caring and loving personality and always having a story to tell. Janetta's favorite pastimes were knitting, playing solitaire, and taking care of her many dogs. She also loved to spend time with her best girlfriend Karen Cody. They would go to movies, concerts, and karaoke. She was preceded in death by her grandparents; her mother, Carolyn Ann Alexander; her stepfather, Robert Alexander, and her father, Forrest Botts. On July 22, 2015, Janetta Kay Rowland Knolle departed this life to be embraced by the Lord at the age of 62 years young, at The Medical Center of Aurora in Aurora, Colorado. She will be remembered for being a person with a huge heart. She had a genuine unconditional loving, caring, and generous personality. She was a true definition of a phenomenal woman! Those left to cherish her memories include her son, Theo Ray (Heather) Rowland; 3 daughters, Stephanie (Lewis) Arkadie , Onjae (Terrance) Clark, Toni Araya (Steven, II) Knolle; 11 grandchildren: Lejon, Desiray, DeMon, DeVion, Debra, DeAndre, Leneeja, Perris, Ebonie, Lewis, III, and Stevie, III; 3 great-grandchildren: Alaysha, Rylee, and Ilove, a host of many more family and friends.
