James Earl McKinley was born on February 15, 1953, in Sheffield, Alabama, James was the son of James Fields and Annette McKinley. He was raised with his siblings, Billy, Gene, Ronnie, Charles, Jay, Gladis and Norma.
James worked a variety of jobs in his career, but he was most proud to be a head cook. He showed dedication and selflessness. His natural leadership skills motivated those around him to strive for excellence in their work. Colleagues admired his caring nature and found solace in his genuine concern for their well-being. James had a special ability to create a positive work environment that helped create personal connections.
Cooking aside, James cherished spending time with his grandchildren above all else. To them he was known as Papa Chulo, Jim Easy and Big Red. Regardless of the activity at hand—whether it was whipping up a delicious meal or sharing cherished tales from the past—his grandchildren always sought to be near him. His presence brought joy to their lives and created enduring memories that will be treasured for generations to come.
James had an adventurous spirit that led him to travel far and wide. He always stayed fresh and clean and took care of his cars. He gained great pleasure from cruising around town in his Cadillac. Laughter was never far from James' lips as he embraced having fun with close friends such as Dennis, Tim, James, Richard, Magic, and above all else - family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Annette
James is survived by his four sons, twenty-five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, seven siblings, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends. His spirit of compassion and generosity touched the lives of many, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him.
James Earl McKinley will forever be remembered for his selflessness, passion for life, and unwavering love for family and friends. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
