James Wesley Martin Jr. was born November 7th, 1955, in Denver Colorado to James Wesley Martin Sr. and Rosa Mae Martin. James was the third born of seven children. He had two older siblings, Ernest, and MiMi and four younger siblings, Richard, Robert, Robin, and Kenneth. As a child James was Manish, outspoken and loved to be a big brother to all his siblings, although he was the third born. He enjoyed playing, being adventurous outside, riding bikes and swimming. He loved taking care of his grandmother; he would cook, and clean for her, and kept her company. James was educated in the Denver Public school system he attended Cole for grade school and Manuel for high school. While attending Manuel James played football, basketball and the ladies. During this time his eldest son Robert James Thompson was born. Shortly after, his second son James Wesley Martin III was born and he enlisted in the United States Army. James served as a soldier until he was injured and came home to his only baby girl Jackie Martin. James was raised Catholic because his mother mama Rose would not have it any other way and they attended St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church. Later on in life we all enjoyed James cooking, whether it was for a birthday, work, or a family gathering, James’s number was the one to dial for the best cooking. He was employed as a cook, bar back and picked up the ladies at several of the local bars and clubs which included Peoria lounge, The Mix, Palm Tree, Spice, and Barnards. James loved his family, to his family he was known as the life of the party and a lady’s man. He was a loving father, and grandfather he made sure breakfast was ready and clothes were pressed and initialed with cresses. He was also a loving brother, son, uncle, cousin and friend who taught us all something. He had such a kind spirit; everywhere he went he was sure to put a smile on your face. Love ones who preceded James in death, his son, James Wesley Martin, III; his father, James Wesley Martin, Sr; his mother, Rosa Mae Martin; two brothers, Earnest Martin and Richard Martin; and his grandmother, Edwina Hill.
