James Green

January 3, 1944 — May 31, 2015

James Andrew Green was born on January 3, 1944 in Minden, Louisiana to Andrew Green and Elnora Winston and was the only son born to their union. The second oldest of 5 close siblings, James never shied away from safeguarding his sisters, Barbara Jean, Shirley Ann, Marva, and Jensen while growing up. He spent his formative years up until his early adult life in Chicago, IL where he graduated from Crane Technical High School in 1961 and later enlisted in the Army as an Airborne Medic. Born an instinctual leader, James first illustrated his impressive work ethic at Hotpoint, a division of General Electric in Chicago as a production specialist in 1966, where he was eventually promoted to foreman status and later as a Methods & Work Measurement Specialist. While living in Colorado, he worked as a supervisor for Cobe Laboratories located in Lakewood. James served as a Work Activities Unit Manager for the Hope Center from 1989-1992. Inspired by what the Hope Center stood for, he found joy in directly affecting those with physical disabilities and training them to re-enter the workforce. He fulfilled other managerial duties while working for various employers until he joined Caterpillar Inc, in 1995 as a Materials Specialist until his retirement in the summer of 2014. James met Catharine Elatha Wells in 1982 and they later united in holy matrimony on March 29, 1986. Together with James's children, daughter Keleigh, son Omar and Catharine's daughter, Tamesha, their extended family grew with the birth oftheir son Breland and daughter Krystal. Together, they cultivated an enduring life and nurtured a wonderful family in Denver, Colorado. In March of 2015, James and Catharine celebrated 29 years of devoted marriage. As a loyal man, husband, and father, he encouraged those he loved to perform at their greatest potential with every endeavor and offered guidance during life's most challenging moments. He received his spiritual foundation during his early years under the guidance of his mother. He later re-dedicated his life to Christ and used his bible as a daily source of strength and inspiration. James had an abundance of passions in his life from fishing to gardening to cooking, but his most incredible attribute was his selfless dedication to his family. Indeed, he enjoyed crafting new memories with those he loved just as much he loved reminiscing even sweeter past memories. He was an avid dominos strategist and frequently demonstrated to others his intelligence of the game. Defined as one of his great pastimes, the abundance of photographed memories acquired over his lifetime are evidence of a wonderful life well lived and enjoyed with others. This particular affinity of his is manifested in the vibrant collection of family albums he cherished dearly along with other mementos he acquired throughout his travels. Known to loved ones as dad, Jamie, Uncle Jamie, Jamie boy, Green and a host of other appellations, his zest for life lie deep in the giving of his heart and the sharing of his wisdom. As a devout grandfather, James allotted special attention to building meaningful relationships with his grandchildren and communicated his unfettered love for them on a daily basis. His youngest grandchild, Syncere King Hayes (Krystal), or "Scoop" as he was named by his "paw paw", gave James more incentive to divide amongst those he loved, a lasting legacy. He loved his grandson to extent of showing him how to get in good graces with his grandmother when he misbehaved. James was adorned with many hats and known by many names but his enduring testaments are his quite strength, devotion to family, and loyalty to friends.
