Irene Body was born on July 20, 1926, in Pittsburg, Texas to her parents, Elan Walton and Elmira Mason Walton. She was the fourth child born in the family. She was raised surrounded by her brothers, J.W., Mason, Eddie, Mason, Jr., Tommy, and her sisters, Ruby, Gladys, and Rachel. She received her early education by graduating from Douglass High School in Pittsburg, Texas.
Irene married, Ezell Body, Sr. when they both lived in Pittsburg, Texas. To this union as son, Ezell Body, Jr. was born. The family shared many happy and precious moments together. She also shared a special closeness with her niece, Charity Walton, who was like a daughter to her. Their relationship with one to the other was full of unconditional love and happiness. She was later blessed with six grandchildren, Bobby, Danette, Makeshia, Richard, De’Nese, and Rachel. They too shared many memorable moments together.
By profession, Irene was a Homemaker who took great pride and joy in the care and nurture of her family. A woman of faith and belief in the Lord, Irene was a faithful member of Cleaves CME church in Denver, Colorado. She believed in the power of prayer and having the right relationship with the Lord.
Irene was a fun-loving woman who enjoyed life and those she encircled. She enjoyed conversing with family and friends and spending quality time together. She will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this kind and wonderful lady. To know Irene was to love her.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Ezell L Body, Sr.; her son, Ezell L. Body, Jr.; her parents, Elam and Elmira Walton; all her siblings, J.W. Pitts, Mason Holmes, Eddie Mason, Sr; Tommy Mason, Ruby Turner, Gladys Burgess, and Rachel Johnson.
Irene Body departed this life to the embrace of the Lord on July 20, 2022, in her home in Denver, Colorado. Those left to cherish her memory and mourn her loss include her loving devoted niece/daughter, Charity L. Walton; six grandchildren, Bobby Walton, Danyette (Mousa) Sangare, Makeshia (Rightous) Lemons, Richard L. Walton, De’Nese (Anthony Harvey, and Rachel Bates; 21 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; and a host of other nieces, nephew, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
