Hubert Mason was born to Josh Mason and Mary Lou Richardson Mason on February 6, 1931 in Holt, Alabama. He was the third child of 7 siblings to include 4 brothers and 3 sisters. In his younger years, he showed leadership abilities by being the caretaker for his younger siblings and other relatives. "He was a loving brother and very generous to family and friends; he was the best brother anyone could ask for, truly a second father to me," stated his sister Doris. Later in life, Hubert met Beth while she was working at the Air Force Finance Center in Denver, Colorado in 1956. They were married in 1963. They were blessed with one child, Monica, and he also became the father of Pamela through this union. He was later blessed with seven grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. In his leisure time, he enjoyed listening to music, dancing and taking great care of his family. He was drafted at age 18 and served 3 years in the United States Army on the front line. Hubert was an entrepreneur; he was a Real Estate Investor as well as a Dry Cleaners' owner for many years. He worked at Stapleton International Airport/DIA for forty-one years as a Skycap where he was recently given an award for Perfect Attendance. He retired February 2016. Hubert was known for his very stylish wardrobe; he could out-dress the best! He was a handsome man on the outside as well as a sweet spirit on the inside. He can never be replaced. To his family, he was "THE MAN!" He was a devoted husband, father, uncle, confidante and friend and we Thank God for the life of Hubert Mason. Hubert was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers, and 2 sisters. Hubert Mason, at the age of 85, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2016, a longtime resident of Denver, Colorado. He leaves to cherish his memories; a devoted and loving wife of 60 years, Beth Mason; his children, Hubert Mason, Jr. of Arizona, Pamela Avery of Denver, Raheem Rasheed of Denver, Michelle (Clarke) Beauchamp of California and Monica Huberta Mason of Atlanta; his loving sister, Doris Jones of Everett, WA; his grandchildren, Marie Mason, Iris Mason, Hubert Mason, III, Deric Avery Hubert Johnson, Amad Rasheed, Evan Beauchamp and Alexander Beauchamp; nephews, Anthony Jones & Philip Jones; great nephews, Trey Jones; great nieces, Natasha Smith, Chelsie Jones; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
