Life's Journey
Howard J. Wilson Jr.
Howard J. Wilson, Jr. was born on August 22, 196 in Denver, Colorado to Howard J. Wilson Sr.and Marilyn Gillett. He was the oldest of his father's children and the youngest of his mothers. He was raised surrounded by his siblings, Lonnie, Larry, and Keith and sister's Adalaid, Lura, Tracie, Kellie, and Pam. Howard was close with his siblings and very protective over his sisters. His sister Adalaid would call him Howard J. Wagador. One of Howard's childhood memories, which is, pretty funny was while in elementary school Howard would run to school every day while being chased by a dog. Howard was hit by a car in middle school and walked all the way home with the person that hit him following behind to make sure he was alright.
Howard received his early education in the Denver Public Schools and later joined the Job Corps. He also furthered his education and completed trade school as a painter.
Howard met through his cousin, Robin's girlfriend Scarlet his further soulmate Lora Yeager and they were wed on December 19, 1998 in Denver, CO at a judge's house. Though there were no children born to this union Howard inherited three children Shanaquewa, Akinlabi (Kin), and James along with seven grandchildren, later to have 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Howard was a man, who was no stranger to hard work. He kept a job. Working was one of his most fulfilling activities. He worked as a folk lift operator at Larsen for over 7 years, KIK as a machine operator for 2 years where his best friend Doug got him the job, and Goldstar as a meat packer for 7 years, where he learned Spanish. To his displeasure he had to stop working when he fell ill in 2013. Later in the years he began working at Earth Links gardening, picking and pressing flowers and greens, candle making, wood working and the production of body products.
Howard was loved by those that he knew and admired by those that saw him. He was known by his dapper appearance and his signature statement "whatevea, whatevea". Howard had a unique laugh that was attention getting and truly contagious. He enjoyed hanging out with his friends in his free time. Often he would go fishing and camping with his best friend Doug. Howard loved having a nice dinner with his wife while sharing a quiet evening. Anyone that knew him, knew he was not going to eat left overs....ever. His favorite meal was meat loaf with red beans and rice. The only way you could get him to eat vegetables was to promise him something that he truly wanted.
Howard J. Wilson Sr. always referred/thought of him as the kindest hearted, and most forgiving person he ever knew.
Howard is preceded by his parents Marilyn Gillett and Howard J. Wilson Sr.; along with his brothers Larry and Lonnie Nelson.
Howard departed this life on September 21, 2019 at Swedish Medical Center in Englewood, Colorado. Those left to cherish his memory and mourn his lost, his wife, Lora Wilson; his sisters, Adalaid, Lura, Tracie, Kellie, and Pam; his brother, Keith Wilson; and host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins along with other relatives and many friends.
