Herman Johns, Jr. affectionately known to his family and friends as "Jobie" was born on Saturday, April 9, 1932 in Jefferson City, Missouri to the proud parents of Herman Johns, Sr. and Molly Ann Taylor. Jobie relocated to Kansas City, Missouri as a small child with his grandmother Emma Nelson where he received his formal education. He enlisted in the Army in 1950 and served his country from 1950 to 1952. While fighting in the Second Infantry Division during the Korean War Jobie was wounded twice during battle. His efforts earned him two Purple Hearts. After leaving the Army, Jobie met his wife, Esther Roberta Hayes. They were married on November 7, 1960 in Kansas City, Kansas. The couple moved from Kansas City, Missouri to Denver, Colorado in 1962. In 1977, Jobie and Esther settled in Dacono at the Glens. Jobie loved people, never met a stranger was gracious and thoughtful along with being a father-figure to many. Even though Jobie was permanently disabled from wounds received while serving his country--- after his honorable discharge he was young, full of energy and wanted to work, so he began his civilian life working as a Certified Automobile Technician. He later owned and operated Hollywood Furniture Store, and after selling the business, he went to work for Gordon's Construction Company. After 25 years of hard labor, Jobie retired from Gordon's Construction Company in 1982. Retiring again, Jobie pursued his hobbies. He spent a lot of time outdoors, especially fishing and he loved to fire up his grill, work in his garage, and barbeque for his family and neighbors. Of all the things Jobie treasured, he loved his wife, Esther, their puppy, Precious, and all other family members. He enjoyed watching sports on TV, visiting his friends along with the simpler things of life. He received the Lord at Zion Temple Pentecostal Church The Good Lord gathered Herman "Jobie" Johns, Jr. to Himself on Monday, October 26, 2015, at 5:40 am surrounded by family. Those whose fond memories of Jobie will comfort their hearts over time are his wife of 55 years, Esther Roberta Johns, of Dacono, Colorado, daughter Theresa L. Sauer and husband Dathan Sauer of Spring, Texas, one brother, Earl Sanderson of Kansas City, Missouri and two sisters, Gwendolyn Fletcher and Sandra Sanderson both residing in Kansas City, Missouri, granddaughters Nikita Love of Denver, Colorado and Germaine Harris, residing in Atlanta, Georgia along with two great-grandchildren, Gabrielle Love and Jayden Love both of Denver, Colorado, brothers-in-law, Spulghon Thomas Hayes, Jr. of Olathe, Kansas, Cortez R. Hayes of Los Angeles, California, and Vincent E. Hayes (Sherri) of Round Rock, Texas, sisters-in-law residing in Kansas City, Missouri, Helen Knowling, Sandra A. Hayes, Jacquelyn M. Cooper and Tonya D. Hayes along with a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, other extended family members and a host of loyal friends.
