Herman Hamilton, affectionately known as "Mazork" and "Rock" by family and friends was born in Aguilla, Texas on May 31, 1919 to parents Zollie Hamilton and Georgia Abercrombie. Mazork was the second oldest born of this union. He had three brothers, Leroy, Calvin and Alvis; and one sister, Dorothy. As a child, he was an avid baseball player and continued his love for the sport throughout adulthood. One of his greatest childhood memories was riding freight trains across the country for fun. Growing up he called it, "jumping box cars." At each stop if there was a baseball game going on he played with the locals. Mazork attended the Historic I.M. Terrell High School in Fort Worth, Texas. On April 10, 1944 he was united in holy matrimony to his soul-mate, Laura Newton. Of this union five beautiful blessings were born, Herman, Bettye, Albeanie, Dian and Mary (Punkin). They have many wonderful childhood memories. These include driving to the mountains every Sunday to sight see and road trips back to Texas during the holidays. Mazork and Laura shared a loving and full life together. Laura remembers their first trip to Colorado where they visited Buffalo Bills grave. She recounts, "Mazork being scared while driving in the mountains when his mom, Ms. Georgia, told him he would be able to go back to Texas and tell people what he had saw and he replied, "If I make it out of here." He began his career at Texas Motors in Fort Worth, Texas. In 1956 he relocated to Denver, Colorado with his wife and children. In Denver he began working for Harry's Auto Glass. Because Mazork was such a skilled worker and always in high demand, in 1972 he decided to venture out on his own as a glass glazier in the automobile industry. Spending time with family was Mazork's greatest joy. He had special nicknames for all his grandchildren such as Rabbit, Lia, Runt, Monkey, Jaws, Lil Dian, Trap, Sweet Pea, Spooky and Skunk. Fondest memories include him picking up Monkey and Sweet Pea from school on Friday's then "Gram" from work to go get ice cream from Dolly Madison. His grandchildren remember him taking the long route home during the holidays so that he could point out all the extravagant lights on the houses. He delighted in playing dominoes, riding his bicycle, storytelling, playing cards, and hanging out with the young fellas as he felt it kept him young. Everyone who encountered Mazork knew he had a way with words. Although they were never defined, you understood what he was saying. You knew, "mamaryder," "mamawhopper," "marks," "hydes," "you hydes," "whooper snapper," and "lame." He will be remembered for his generosity, hilarious stories, and the doors always being open at his home. The moment you arrived on "Bellaire", you were family. Mazork was a phenomenal man and an example to many. He will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this one of a kind man. Mazork is preceded in death by his parents, Zollie Hamilton and Georgia Abercrombie Patton; his sister Dorothy; His brothers Leroy, Calvin and Alvis; his son Herman; and his daughter Albeanie.
