Henrietta Jarrett

Henrietta Jarrett was born on December 27, 1934, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi to her parents, Nelson Fluker, Sr. and Irene Freeman Fluker. She was the third of four children born in the family. She was raised surrounded by her brother, Nelson, Jr.; her sisters, Betty and Jim Ella. Growing up, she shared a special closeness with her sister, Jim Ella. The family enjoyed visits to Fluker Hill in Mississippi. Henrietta received her early education in Gary, Indiana, where she graduated from Roosevelt High School. She was the proud mother of 3 sons, Charles, Jr., Prezont, Kevin and 4 daughters, Victoria, Arlene, Betty and her daughter/ granddaughter, Verirene. She was later blessed with twenty six grandchildren, who all were an additional source of joy and pride in her life. They fondly called her "Mama or Mudda" and fondly remember all the happy and precious moments they shared together. By profession, Henrietta was a business entrepreneur. She owned and operated a restaurant. She truly enjoyed being her own boss and was respected by her patrons for her culinary skills. A woman of faith in the Lord, Henrietta accepted the Lord as her personal savior and was a member of the Metropolitan Baptist Church in Gary, Indiana. Henrietta was a fun loving woman, who enjoyed life and those she encircled. In her free time, she enjoyed fishing, watching wrestling, reading, and her visits to "Fluker Hill." Her closest friend, Evelyn Lakes will miss her smile, her outgoing personality, and how she was naturally respectful to others. She will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this kind and wonderful woman who leaves a legacy of love and a void that can never be filled. To know Henrietta was to love her. She is preceded in death by her parents, Nelson and Irene Fluker, Sr.; sisters, Jim Ella Hinton, and Betty Jean Fluker; a son in law, Pedro Escandey and grandchildren, Damian Walker, Prezont Walker, Jr., and Kevin Walker, Jr. departed this life to the Lord's embrace on her birthday, December 27, 2016, in Aurora, Colorado. Those left to cherish her memory and mourn her loss include 3 sons, Charles C. (Cleo) Walker, Jr. of Denver, Prezont L. (Ethel) Walker, Sr. of Houston, TX and Kevin L. Walker of Minneapolis, MN; 4 daughters, Victoria L. (Reginald) Caruthers of Inglewood, CA, Arlene Escandey of Minneapolis, MN, Betty J. Walker-Simmons and Verirene N. (Preston) Nunn all of Aurora; 1 brother, Nelson Fluker, Jr. of Country Club Hills, IL; 26 grandchildren; 45 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; her former son-in-law, Alvertis Simmons of Denver; her beloved pet, Cody Prada; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
