Helen Faye Bray was born to James Hester and Bessie Bray Hughes on September 28, 1952 in Paris, Texas. She was the eighth child born in a family of nine. She was raised surrounded by her mother and siblings. Helen received Christ at an early age at the Hospitality Church of God in Christ in Paris, Texas. Helen graduated from Paris High School in Paris, Texas in 1970. After that she moved to Denver, Colorado. Helen worked at Denver General Hospital and later worked for Ridge State Home and Training School. Helen enjoyed spending time with family, shopping at Macy's and JC Penny's with her cousin Tammy, traveling, playing bingo, bowling, cooking and watching Wheel of Fortune. She was always laughing and had a loving outgoing personality. Helen became a faithful member of The Potter's House of Denver in 2010, where she enjoyed worshiping and fellowshipping with her best friend Phyllis. Helen had her only child in October, 1972, Yolonda Evans, who she adored and cherished. The two had a close and strong bond and relationship. She also had one grandchild, Quincy Evans, Jr, who she enjoyed playing checkers with and taking walks. Helen was preceded in death by her mother Bessie Bray Hughes, father James Hester, brother's Lisbon Hughes, Joel Hughes and sister Barbara White. Those present to cherish her memory and mourn her loss include her daughter Yolonda G. Evans (Quincy Evans, Sr), grandson Quincy Evans, Jr of Denver, CO; sister Loyce J. McClinton of Denver, CO, sister Shirley Rice of Dallas, TX, sister Laura Bartee of Oklahoma City, OK; brother Charles E. Hughes of Pairs, TX; sister Ruth Hughes of Denver, CO; and one sister-in-law Norma Hughes of Denver, CO; a personal friend Mr. David Taylor of Denver, CO. Host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
