Hattie Strange

February 6, 1979 — April 14, 2017

As beautiful as a rose to see, was her life she lived so gracefully. She made things precious by her touch; her selfless love lives on in each of us. The petals of her life fell one by one; each a gift of her heart till there were none. Yet her radiance blooms once again in fields of glory with no end. Hattie Lenora Strange was born on February 6, 1979, in Denver, Colorado to her parents, Vera Jean Cortez Strange and Nathaniel Strange, Jr. She was the fourth child born in the family. She was raised surrounded by her brothers, Rueben, Nathan, Gene and her sister, Keona. As a child, she was happy, jovial, and playful. Hattie received her formal education by attending Smokey Hill High School in Aurora, Colorado and Concorde Career Center, earning a Certificate to become a Certified Nurse Assistant in 2005. She also earned her certification to become a Nail Technician. Hattie met Charles Ray Ward, Jr. when they both were in high school. To this union, three beautiful children, Charles, III, Chauncey and Chazmin were born. She was a loving and devoted mother whose pride and joy was the care and nurture of her family. They all shared many happy and precious moments together. By profession, Hattie worked in the Health Care Field. She was employed by Children's Hospital working as a CNA, a Medical Assistant and in Patient Services. She is remembered as being hard-working, dedicated, and she performed her duties with a spirit of excellence. She had a jovial personality and worked well with her co-workers and the patients placed in her charge. Hattie was a fun-loving person who enjoyed life and those she encircled. In her free time, she enjoyed spending quality time with family and friends., having blockbuster movie nights, or just spending quiet moments enjoying the peace and quiet. She will be remembered for her kindness, her honesty, and her willingness to help others. To know Hattie was to love her. Hattie Lenora Strange departed this life on April 14, 2017, in Aurora, Colorado. Those left to cherish her memory and mourn her loss include 2 sons, Charles R. Ward, III, and Chauncey R. Ward; 1 daughter, Chazmin R. Ward; her parents, Vera J. Taylor and Deacon Nathaniel (Ola) Strange, all of Aurora, Colorado; 3 brothers, Rueben L. Strange, Nathan B. Strange both of Ft. Worth, TX and Gene R. Strange of North Las Vegas, NV; sisters, Keona Cortez and Veronica Arnold both of Aurora; her grandparents, Hattie M. Ashby of Aurora and Elnora Thomas of Denver; aunt of, Kierra M. Cortez, of Aurora, Jasmine Williams of Arlington, TX, Jamal Strange, of Ft. Worth, TX, and Tatiana C. Strange, of Arlington, TX, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
