Harold Brown

February 14, 1951 — January 21, 2016

Harold Grant Brown, affectionately called "HB" by family and friends was born on Valentine's Day, February 14, 1951, in Lafayette, Louisiana, to his parents, Joseph Lee Brown and Odeal Yokum Brown. He was the second child born in the family. He was raised surrounded by his brothers, Conrad, Larry, Michael, Dwayne, Johnnie and his sisters, Diane, Gerald, Debra and Gwendolyn. As a child, he enjoyed visiting his grandparents' home in the country. He could be found fishing, hunting and cooking. He enjoyed preparing meals in his youth. This was the fundamental training that made him an excellent cook. HB received his early education in Lake Charles, Louisiana, where he graduated from W.O. Boston High School. On February 23, 1979, HB united in holy matrimony to the former Sherry A. Taylor. They first met in Denver. They exchanged vows in Las Vegas, Nevada. To this union, Brande Alexandra and Harold Grant Salman were born. He was a devoted husband and doting father. He took great pride in the care and nurture of his family. They shared many happy and precious moments together. He was later blessed with two God children, Lauren Shobe and Bozenick Johnson. The family fondly remembers his fried catfish and his natural ability to prepare a meal that would amaze any professional chef. His family looked forward to his fine cuisine. By profession, HB was employed by the Royal Family in Saudi Arabia. He was an Attache'.to members of the Royal Family. He was respected and admired by the Royal Family and the Saudi People. His work ethic was one of job completion. He remained in this position for over twenty five years. A man of faith and belief in the Lord, HB accepted the Lord as his personal savior at a very early age. He attended Mt. Cavalry Baptist Church in Lake Charles, LA. Upon relocating to Denver, both HB and Sherry joined King Baptist Church, they later joined Shorter Community AME Church. He served his church and the Lord as a member of the Senior Usher Board. He embraced his duties with pride and dignity. HB had been a member of the church for over twenty years. As his health began to decline and he was unable to attend the worship service and hear Reverend Tyler deliver the message, he was deeply saddened. HB's love of Jesus Christ and the love and support he received from his family, his church family, his Bible study and his friends was a motivating force until the Lord called him home. He was also a former member of the Sippers-N- Sliders Ski Club and the Colorado Classic Car Club. He was currently a member of the Empire Elks Lodge #1493, IBPOEOW, Inc. He truly enjoyed the camaraderie's shared with the brethren. HB was a man with a gregarious personality and was a people person. He never met a stranger. He enjoyed conversing on a wide range of topics to include political and local events. He was an avid Denver Broncos fan and enjoyed watching the games on television as well as attending them. He loved working on his lawn and gardening. He took great pride in his ripe red tomatoes and his dark green peppers that he often shared with others. He will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this kind and wonderful man, who leaves a legacy of love, joy and happiness. To know HB was to love him. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Brande A. Brown; his parents, Joseph and Odeal Brown and a sister, Gerald Lynn Brown.
