Hallie Pearl Shead was born on May 1, 1938 in Byhalia, Mississippi to Rand Sr., and Willie Bob Shead. She was the fifth child born to this union. She was raised surrounded by her brothers, Herman, Mack, Arthur, Sorl, Steve, Rand Jr., Leon, Levell, Larry, and her sisters, Arlee and Glory Jean. While growing up, Hallie Pearl enjoyed spending time with her sisters and brothers. She received her formal education in Indianapolis, where she attended Crispus Attucks High School. Hallie Pearl was united in marriage to Tommy Hamilton on December 6, 1954. This union produced five children Tommie, Priscilla, Rendus, Vickie, and Michael. A woman of faith and belief in the Lord, Hallie Pearl was introduced to Christ at an early age. After moving to Denver she became a member of the Zion Temple Pentecostal Apostolic Church under the pastorate of her late brother-in-law, Bishop Roland Martin. During her tenure at Zion she was a member of the sisterhood department, voices of praise, and the kitchen-cooking staff. She was also a student and graduate of the 1996 Training for Service Class where she enjoyed learning about and studying the word of God. Upon her passing she remained a member of Zion Temple under the Pastorate of Suff. Bishop Robert E. Martin Jr. Hallie Pearl loved to cook and her love for cooking prompted her to establish several restaurants including Sheads Fish & Rib Hut and Pearl's Fish Hut. This profession allowed her to serve not only her family and friends, but many other people in the Denver community. Other professions included working at The Children's Hospital and Samsonite. Hallie Pearl was a dedicated and loyal Denver Broncos fan; she even held season tickets for several years. Some of her other hobbies included making handmade dolls and handkerchiefs, and putting together jigsaw puzzles. Hallie Pearl loved her family and down through the years the doors of her home were always open to everyone. This open door policy benefited many family members even here today, prompting them to consider her as the matriarch of her family. One of her last labors of love was spearheading the planning of our family get together which was held during the Labor Day weekend earlier this month. Even as she approached the end of her journey here on earth Hallie Pearl set her affections on those things above, joining her sister, Arlee and a few other family members in singing "I've Got A Feeling Everything's Going To Be Alright" just hours before her passing. Hallie Pearl Hamilton departed this life to the embrace of the Lord on September 20, 2014 in Denver, Colorado. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rand Sr., and Willie Bob Shead, her son, Rendus Hamilton, her brother's, Herman, Arthur, Sorl, Steve, Levell, and Larry; her sisters, Glory Jean and Betty Strickland: and grandchildren, Jamal and Tamara Thomas. Those left to cherish her memory include her four children, Tommie (Terry) Thomas of Colorado Springs, Priscilla (Cornelia) Pinson of Los Angeles, Vickie Hamilton and Michael (Valerie) Hamilton of Denver, Nadine Cole, Ivan Shead, and Zina (Alton) Williams of Denver, 11 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, one sister, Arlee Martin of Denver; three brothers, Mack (Daisy) Shead Sr. of Littleton, Rand (Jeanette) Shead, Jr. of Aurora, and Leon (Ivy) Shead Sr., of Bennett; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
