Grover Gines, Jr.

March 22, 1941 — July 30, 2013

Grover Gines was born on March 22, 1941, to the union of Grover Gines, Sr. and Maggie Lee Mosley Gines in Shreveport, Louisiana. While living in Shreveport, he attended Herndon High School. Shortly after graduation, Grover enlisted in the United States Army, where he proudly served his country. He was stationed in California and Wichita, Kansas. He served with honor and distinction and was honorably discharged, in 1968. After his military discharge, Grover was employed as a paint supervisor at Cessna Aircraft in Wichita, Kansas. After later moving to Denver, Colorado, he worked for Beech Aircraft. Grover was a man of many skills, he was self-employed as a contractor. He belonged to the Masonic Lodge. He recently received the certificate of appreciation for years of service at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., "Dinner for those who Hunger," awarded to him by Volunteers of America. Grover was a fun loving man who enjoyed life. He loved fishing, hosting card parties, playing dominoes and gathering with family and friends for barbeques and spending time with his devoted friend, John Kottenstette. The Lord called Grover home on July 30, 2013. Those left to cherish his memory include sons, Grover (Jeanetta) Gines, of Atlanta, GA, Billy Rae Johnson of Shreveport, LA, Brandon Gines of Denver, CO; sister, Maggie (Dorothy Mae) Gines, sister in law Jerrie Mae Gines, both of Shreveport, LA ; daughters, Doris Tucker, Della Stamps, Genise Johnson ; a devoted granddaughter, Sonja Coleman-Harris ((Reverend James) all of Denver , CO, Rosie Mae Cain of Shreveport, LA, Bettie Gines , Carol Floyd, both of Denver , CO; Fifteen other grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and a host of nieces , nephews, cousins other relatives and many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents , Maggie and Grover, brothers, Authur "Diddy"Gines, William "Big Fat" Gines; sisters, Pearline Gines Cole, Lattie M.White and daughter, Denise Plater .
