The life of Gregory Louis Owens began when he blessed his parents, Arthur Owens and Pauline Ida Powell Owens with his birth on May 12, 1954, in Denver, Colorado. He was the fifteenth of seventeen children born in the family. He was raised surrounded by his many brothers including, Nathaniel, Dennis and his many sisters including, Victoria, Marvina and Wilma. As a child, he loved to play sports, carried a jovial personality and had a tendency to be on the bossy side. He also like to correct family and friends. Gregory received his formal education in Denver, where he attended Manuel High School. On June 5, 1975, he united in holy matrimony to Deborah Young-Owens. To this union, a daughter, Jessyca was born. This marriage was later dissolved. He was also the proud father of Choice, Paulette, and Marcus. He was later blessed with three grandchildren, Destyni, Jaiden, and Tyishawn; who were an additional source of joy and pride in his life. They lovingly called him "PaPa." Gregory worked as a Mechanic, a Driver and a Handy Man; he truly enjoyed being his own boss. He performed his duties with precision and excellence. Gregory was a fun loving man who enjoyed life and those he encircled. In his free time, he enjoyed playing cards, watching sports and spending quality time with family and friends. He continued to carry a jovial personality and was known to be the "life of the party." He was outgoing and a "man on the go." He will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this one of a kind guy. To know Gregory was to love. Gregory Louis Owens departed this life on May 19, 2014, in Denver, Colorado. Those left to cherish his memory include 2 daughters, Jessyca Z. Owens of Denver and Paulette Owens of Columbia, Mississippi; 2 sons, Choice Johnson of Denver and Marcus Owens of Columbia, Mississippi; his brothers, Nathaniel Owens, Dennis Owens, all of Denver; his sister, Victoria, Marvina Salibury both of Denver, Wilma Brandon of Lakewood, CO; 3 grandchildren, Destyni R. Owens Editone, Jaiden L. Williams, Tyishawn J. Owens Kelly all of Denver and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins other relatives and many friends.
