Gregory Holifield, age 63, passed away at Denver Health Hospital on March 3, 2021. He passed after a courageous battle against advanced stage pancreatic cancer, just four days shy of his 64th birthday.
Greg was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama on March 7, 1957 to Mary Holifield and Joe Smith Johnson. He was loved by many and was known to be extremely social, outgoing, and charismatic. Greg will always be remembered for his humor, his fierce independence, his trademark style, his love for his family and his incredible strength and resilience. Prior to his recent fight against cancer, Greg fought and overcame a variety of hardships and health challenges; refusing defeat and continually rising up. Greg is truly missed and still loved always.
Gregory Holifield is survived, remembered, and cherished by his sisters Betty Joe Edwards and Joe Ella Davis; his brother, Stanley Joe Holifield; his niece, Natalie Holifield; his two nephews, Christian Filus and Dominic Holifield; Cleveland Lovell Snelling and Reginald Snelling and a host of loving friends.
Greg is preceded in death and joins the spirits of his mother, Mary Holifield; his father, Joe Smith Johnson; his maternal Grandmother, Millie Oliver (Mama Seale); his Uncle, John H. Jones (Uncle Buddy/Buddy Red); his two brothers, James Lewis Holifield and Eddie Lee Holifield and his nephew, Derrick Snelling.
Services to honor Greg’s life and legacy will be held on Monday, March 22, 2021 at 11:00am at Pipkin Braswell Funeral Home at 6601 E. Colfax Avenue, Denver CO 80220. A public visitation will take place on Monday, March 22, 2021 from 9:00am to 11:00am.
