It is written that when life begins it is like an open book with many blank pages; each day that we live our deeds are recorded page by page until we close our eyes in death and await that great getting up morning. Gregory Bene't Harrison was born on April 8, 1956, in Brooklyn, New York to his parents, Vernon Lee Harrison and Albertha Keitt Harrison. He was the third child born in the family. He was raised surrounded by his brother, Roderick and his sisters, Vhonnye and Helenka. He received his formal education in New York where he graduated from Brooklyn Technical High School. After graduation, he furthered his education by attending Simpson College in Iowa. He then transferred to Denver University in Denver, Colorado where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Marketing. "Greg" as he was affectionately called by family and friends, met his soul mate, the former, Mamie Littles in 1994, in Denver. They exchange vows on January 25, 2006, at the Aurora Municipal Building in Aurora, Colorado. Mamie remembers her husband as loving, supportive and a man who enjoyed spending quality time with family and friends. They enjoyed traveling to both foreign and domestic destinations. She also remembers his laugh and jovial personality. They shared many happy and precious moments together. A man of faith and belief in the Lord, Greg accepted the Lord as his personal savior at a very early age and was baptized at the Mt. Ollie Baptist Church in Brooklyn, New York. He believed in the power of prayer and having the right relationship with the Lord. Greg chose to make Denver, Colorado his home and joined a marketing firm and began building his foundation. He later transferred to the United States Postal Service. He was respected and admired by his co-workers and employers for his hard work and dedication. He was a faithful member of the APWU. Greg retired in 2014, after sixteen years of service. Greg was a fun loving man who enjoyed life and those he encircled. In his free time, he enjoyed gardening, traveling and watching and playing sports. Greg was a down to earth and tee shirt kind of guy. He had an illuminating smile that would lite any room he entered. Greg's closest friends, Eric Crawford, Glen Quintanna and Ray Maes, will miss the camaraderie they shared together and the fact that he was true and genuine friend. He will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this kind and wonderful man, who leaves a void that, can never be filled. To know Greg was to love him. He is preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Albertha Harrison. Gregory Bene't Harrison transitioned to eternity on Monday, April 21, 2014, in Denver, Colorado. Those left cherish his honor and celebrate his memory include his loving and devoted wife, Mamie Harrison, Denver; his brother, Roderick L.
