In the county of Hot Springs, the town of Malvern, in the state of Arkansas, on February 26, 1934, Edward and Annie Sanders were blessed with the birth of one, Gracie Lee Sanders, the youngest of 10 children. She fit her position well as “The Baby Girl.”

At the young age of 20, Gracie was married to Johnny Hamm and started a family in Malvern, Arkansas. A handful of years later, they moved to Denver, Colorado, where she had the remainder of her ten children.

The relocation was hard on Gracie, she survived a divorce and was determined to raise all 10 of her children relying on the help of God. The congregation was seven (7) kids making a joyful noise… this became a building in progress for several years, and several locations later, Aurora Church of God in Christ was established; here the tree had taken root.
