In Loving Memory of Gloria Jean Nichols

Mother, Sister, Aunt, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Friend

Gloria Nichols transitioned peacefully on July 8th after a short illness.  She was surrounded and supported by her loving family and caregivers during the last days of her life.

The eldest of five girls, Gloria was born in 1941 and raised in Des Moines Iowa with her sisters Judy, Sharon, Alfreda and Cherice by their mother Dorothy Marshbank.  She attended Des Moines Tech High and Emily Griffin Technical School studying computer programming.

Gloria relocated to Denver Colorado in 1964  with her now dearly departed husband Renfro Isaac Nichols where they reared five children Kirby, Ayesha, Hashim, Lateef and Kajuan.

Gloria had a commitment to service and community throughout her life. In her youth, she volunteered for the Red Cross as a lifeguard and was awarded both the Junior and Senior lifesaving awards. She was also very active in extracurricular activities including roller skating, ballet, cooking, and playing the violin.

Gloria continued caretaking by fostering a number of children. She was an avid crafter with her talents ranging from sewing, crocheting and knitting to ceramics and macramé.  She enjoyed a range of arts and crafts with her children and grandchildren making holidays and birthdays forever memorable.  Gloria also had a knack for programming computers inspiring her sons to follow in her footsteps.

She is survived by her aforementioned sisters, children along with eight grandchildren: Marquis, Maurice, AJ, Mathew, Tavaughn, Leilah, Divya, and Stephanie.
