Gervais' Lamont Spencer was born to the union of Nadine Spencer and Ronald David Lyle on June 29, 1971 in Denver, Colorado. His mother gave him the nickname "Monty Blue", when he was fairly young. He was an only child. Family just referred to him as "Monty". His dad referred to him as, "The apple of his eye". Monty attended grade school and high school in Denver, Colorado. After high school, he relocated to Texas, where he met the mother of his children Erika. Shortly after his move, Monty and Erika were married. From this union, two children were born, Gervais', Jr. and Jaland. Monty later became a grandfather to Jordan Gervais' Spencer. He was excited and proud of becoming a grandfather. Monty found his professional passion which was cooking. People loved his food. He became a chef and started cooking at hotels and restaurants. He became one of the best chef's. He always hoped to have his own restaurant someday. Monty loved spending time with his favorite auntie, Cheryl, his first cousins, and grandmother. He would always call to check on his grandmother and say to her, "I'm your oldest grandson," and she would respond, "yes you are". Monty had a favorite saying that he quoted quite often, "It is, what it is!". Monty was preceded in death by his father, Ronald David Lyle and his uncle, Raymond Spencer. Gervais' Lamont "Monty" Spencer departed this life on September 12, 2016 in Denver, Colorado. He is survived by his two sons, Gervais' Lamont Spencer, Jr. and Jaland Roger Spencer; his mother, Nadine Spencer; one grandson, Jordan Spencer; his grandmother, Mildred Spencer; one aunt, Cheryl Andrews; two of his first cousins, Adadel and Kamil Andrews, and a long time "off and on" friend, Lori Davey; and a host of other cousins, other relatives and friends.
