Precious Memories Georgia Marie Carter Georgia Marie Carter was born on July 21, 1938, in Cameron, Texas, to her parents, Effie Marie Lewis and Irven Lewis. She was an only child. Georgia received her formal elementary and high school education in the Temple, Texas Public Schools. She was a majorette with the marching band and on the swim team. In April 1956, Georgia united in holy matrimony to Richard W.C. Parker. They first met while Georgia was in High School when they both resided in Temple, TX. To this union two sons and two daughters were born. Georgia's nurturing and loving maternal instinct was always displayed in the care and support for her children. In 1957 Georgia and Richard moved to Colorado with their family, and later divorced. Georgia met Harvey C. Carter and united in holy matrimony on August 21, 1966. To this union three daughters were born and Georgia opened her loving arms and heart to being a mother to all their children in their blended family. Georgia always expressed feeling blessed that the many small businesses (salvage yard, neighborhood convenience stores) that she and Harvey owned allowed her to be able to be available to her children. Her true joy in life was found in the care and accomplishments of her family. Later in her life after raising her children Georgia had a desire to further her education by attending Front Range Community College earning her Associate Degree in Dietary Nutrition in 1979. When Georgia entered the work force as a Child Care Provider, she was hardworking, dedicated, and performed her duties with a giving spirit. She was respected and admired for her ability to bring people together and make them feel valued. A woman of faith and belief in the Lord, Georgia accepted the Lord as her personal savior at a very early age. Georgia's spiritual walk with Christ was demonstrated by her calling to help God's children in need. Georgia diligently served as a deaconess, missionary, and devoted choir member. Georgia remained a faithful and dedicated member of Mount Moriah Baptist Church for over 30 years. She served her church and the Lord as a member of several of the church ministries and other church activities and functions, until her declining health and physical mobility limited her participation. Georgia was a fun-loving woman, she enjoyed life and those she encircled. In her free time, she enjoyed cooking and baking, cake decorating, gardening, scrapbooking, singing, shopping, window shopping, dining out at nice restaurant's, spending time with her children and grandchildren, and best friends Norma Malone, and Lena Carter (deceased). She will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this kind, caring, talented, loving, and Christian woman. To know Georgia was to love her. Georgia is preceded in death by her husband, Harvey C. Carter; and her daughter, Vanessa Marie Carter.
