George Samuel Newbins was born on June 3, 1940, in Denver, Colorado to his parents Booker T. Newbins and Daisy Ramsey Newbins. He was the fifth of ten children born in the family.. He was raised surrounded by his brothers, Booker T., Nathaniel, Gale, Edsel, and Ruston, and his sisters, Virginia, Mary Belle, Catherine and Shirley. As a child, he was industrious. He loved putting things together and making things. He was often called "Pretty Boy" by his friends. George was the proud father of a son, named Shawn and two daughters, named Lindette and Teresa. He was later blessed with twelve grandchildren who were an additional source of joy and pride in his life. They lovingly called him "PaPa George" and fondly remember all the happy and precious moments they all shared together. By profession, George was employed as an Occupational Therapist. He worked both private duty and in nursing homes. He truly enjoyed working in the Health Care Field. He was dependable and performed his duties with a spirit of excellence. A man of faith and belief in the Lord, George accepted the Lord as his personal savior at a very early age. He joined Odem Temple under the pastoral leadership of the late Bishop William Odem. George was a fun loving man who enjoyed life and those he encircled. In his free time, he enjoyed crocheting and making bags and purses out of odd and unique objects. His closest friends, Stephon Grisby, Russell Simpson, Jimmy, and Chuck will all miss the comraderies they all shared together and the fact that he was true and trusted friend. George was a man whose smile would lite any room he entered. He will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this kind and wonderful man. To know George was to love him. George Samuel Newbins departed this life on September 30, 2014, in Denver, Colorado. Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Shawn, C. (Coleeta) Newbins of Kansas City, MO; two daughters, Lindette C. (Michael) Young and Teresa L. (Stephon) Grisby all of Denver; 12 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and many friends.
