George Lee Cox was born on May 10, 1954 to his parents, John Cox and Martha Jones in Lubbock, Texas. George was the ninth child of 17 children. He was raised surrounded by his 8 brothers and 8 sisters. As a teenager, George moved to Denver, Colorado with his sister. He then attended Manual High School in Denver. In 1974, George moved to Austin, Texas to attended Job Corp where he received his high school diploma and learned the trade of an electrician. After moving back to Denver, George met Kathy D. Hill. The two would marry in 1974. To this union, Latasha, Latora, and Temecca were born. George moved his family to Seattle, Washington where he resided for many years, and in 1999, the family moved back to Colorado. After a few years, George met Dorothy L. Willis the two would share many memorable moments together. George and Dorothy shared four children. Later, George was blessed with seven grandchildren, and one great grandchild who were all an additional source of joy. George worked tirelessly as an Assembler at Access Windows. His co-workers would say his was a joy to work with the hardworking, dedicated man. In his free time, George would enjoyed playing pool, and dancing. He also enjoyed laughing and partying with friends and family, and still find quiet time for himself. George was an independent man who cared deeply for his family, and would help anyone in need. He always had a smile on his face no matter what he was going through. His favorite saying was, "If a man's word is no good, than he is not a standup man." George was preceded in death by his mother, Martha Clayton; brother, John Jones; nephews Kendrick Jones and Elijah Jones. George Lee Cox departed this life on February 16, 2016, in Denver, Colorado. He leaves behind a host of family to mourn his loss including his wife, Kathy Cox; his devoted companion, Dorothy Willis of Denver; his daughters, Latasha Cox, Latora Cox, Tamecca Cox, Denise; his sons, Steve, Sheldon, Estephan, and Maurice; his grandchildren, Anthony Lee Cox, Latora Denise Trotman, Malika Kaylyn Muhummed, Racquel Denise Rodgers, Leeounda, Latasha and Laneesha; his great granddaughter, Athena all from Seattle, WA; 8 sisters, Alcy, Marie, Ora, Cora All of Ft. Worth, TX, Mary of Denver; Theresa, Martha, Esther Lynn All of Amarillo, TX; 7 brothers, William, Charlie, Billy, James, Arthur, Adolphus, Nolan All of Amarillo, TX; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. George lee cox will be missed tremendously by all who knew him!
