Garland S. Marcano was born on March 17, 1944, in East Saint Louis, Illinois to his parents, Frank Marcano and Lula Hawkins Marcano. He was the first born in the family. He was raised surrounded by his younger sibling, who looked up to him. Growing up, he was involved in the Boy Scouts, he was voted Prom King, he loved playing football, baseball, singing, and he loved dressing up to look good. He received his early education in East Saint Louis where he graduated from East Saint Louis High School.
On April 17, 1965, Garland married Esther Perry. They first met when they both were in high school. To this union, Parnell and Michelle were born. Parnell remembers his dad being so proud and happy to see Mary Wilson from The Supremes a legend in the home. On September 15, 1989, he wed, Vivian J. Reeves in Aurora, Colorado. They first met through mutual friends. Vivian fondly remembers her husband as being her best friend. They enjoyed traveling, playing and watching sports. He was later blessed with six grandchildren, who all were an additional source of joy and pride in his life.
By profession, Garland was an over the road Truck Driver. He was employed by both Ideal Truck Line and Western Metal. He was hardworking, dedicated, and performed his duties with pride and excellence.
A man of faith and belief in the Lord, Garland had been a member of the Potters House of Denver for over nine years. He believed in the power of prayer and that everyone needed to have the right relationship with the Lord.
Garland was a fun-loving man, who enjoyed life and those he embraced. In his free time, he enjoyed playing cards, dominoes, basketball, and baseball. His closest friends, Garland Osborne, Eugene Johnson, Morris Cummings, and Elmer McGee will fondly remember him "never calling anyone by their correct name" and the fact that he was a true and trusted friend. He will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this kind and wonderful man. To know Garland was to love him.
Garlard S. Marcano departed this life to the embrace of the Lord on April 16, 2019, in Denver, Colorado. Those left to cherish his memory and mourn his loss include his loving and devoted wife, Vivian J. Marcano of Denver, Colorado; 2 sons, Parnell D. Marcano (Michael Rabb) of Los Angeles, CA and Marcus (Angie) Corbin of Wichita, Kansas; 1 daughter, Michelle A. (Bruce) Johnson of Denver, CO; his step children, Tanya D. Burroughs of Colorado Springs, CO and Aaron H. Burroughs of Aurora, CO; 1 brother, Ralph (Gail) Marcano of East Saint Louis, IL; 5 sisters, Carol Marcano Johns of East Saint Louis, IL, Karen Taylor, Kathy Morgan both of St. Louis, MO, Patricia (Harold) Jenkins of East Saint Louis, IL and Eunice Ford of Memphis, TN; 6 grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
