Gail Richardson

September 27, 1947 — December 31, 2017

Gail RichardsonGail Victoria Richardson was born on September 27, 1947, in Staten Island, New York to her parents, William Ivory and Anne Mae Jackson. She was the third child born in a family of four children. She was blessed to have one brother, William; and two sisters, Lavonia, and Phyliss. Gail’s family lovingly called her, “Vicky.” As a child, she loved to dance, sing, model, and laugh. In the early 1960’s, the family decided to move to California. On their road trip, they began to have car troubles and instead of continuing to California, they decided to plant roots where the car stopped in Denver, Colorado. Vicky attended school in the Denver Public School District, and she graduated from Manual High School. Vicky enjoyed being in school and amongst friends and family. Vicky was the proud mother of eight children, Robert, Michelle, Barbara, Michael, Yolanda, Roslyn, Andre, and Najarian. She was known for opening her doors to the neighborhood children, as her children always found wandering kids outside that needed a meal and Vicky always made enough food to feed them all. Her children remember her love for cooking, music, dancing, and laughing. She saw the humor in everything, even when inappropriate. Vicky spent countless hours with her life partner, Darwin Brooks. He was her man of strength that stuck close to her in love. Vicky was later blessed with 31 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren. They were an additional source of joy and affection. They lovingly nicknamed her, “Granny.” Vicky liked to host dinners, calling each of her grandkids, and making them laugh. The grandkids remember exchanging good books, and recipes with their “Granny.” She had a beautiful bond with each of her grandchildren in their own way. She will always be loved and remembered by her grandchildren as a loving, strong, beautiful, intelligent, and genuine woman. “Granny was our rock.” A Chef by trade, Vicky worked for the Community Corrections. She used what she was passionate about, cooking, to create income and a stable household for her children. Her co-workers would talk about her dedication and commitment to the job, and how she operated in the spirit of excellence. Vicky was a member of Zion Baptist Church in Denver. She loved the Lord in her own way. In her free time, she enjoyed cooking, cleaning, dancing, singing, reading, and watching Lifetime Movies. Her close friends, Aunt Becky, Faye Wilkerson, Connie Jones, Fredine, Colette, Cookie, Pam, and Elaine will never forget the bond they shared with Vicky, and they call it a privilege to have spent so much quality time with her. Vicky was preceded in death by her son, Michael Jackson; her mother, Anne Mae Jackson, father, William Ivory; siblings, William Jackson, Lavonia Reid, and Phyliss Jackson. On December 31, 2017, Gail Victoria “Vicky” Richardson departed this life in Denver, Colorado to enter eternity. Vicky will forever be remembered for her smile. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Robert Jackson, Michelle Doage, Barbara Jackson (King Jarrod), Yolanda Clark, Roslyn McKinney, Andre Jackson, Najarian Jackson; her life partner, Darwin Brooks; 31 grandchildren, and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends
