Frank Stepney

August 10, 1949 — May 23, 2013

Elder Frank Stepney life began when he blessed his parents, Lem J. Stepney and Louise Brown Stepney with his birth on August 10, 1949, in Columbia, Mississippi. He was the third child born in the family. He was raised surrounded by his brothers, James Earl, Claude, John and Jerry. He and his brothers shared many memorable moments together in their youth. The family eventually relocated to Denver, Colorado and Frank completed his early education by graduating from Manual High School. On June 24, 1972, Frank united in holy matrimony to the former Barbara Ann Davis. They first met in church and exchanged vows at 2627 York Street. To this union, Shonda, Keith and Sharees were born. They remember their father wrestling with them, playing pool, and watching the Denver Broncos play. Barbara remembers her husband as a loving family man whose pride and joy was the care and nurture of his family. He was later blessed with ten grandchildren, who affectionately called him "Bookie" and fondly remember him making them laugh and watching football and basketball together. The family shared many happy and precious moments together. By profession, Frank was employed by RTD as a maintenance worker. His coworkers and employers remember his hard work and dedication. He worked well with others and was extremely dependable. In Matthew, chapter 5 verse 16 we find these words recorded; "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." Elder Frank Stepney accepted his calling to the ministry and became a foot soldier for the Lord. He worked alongside his friend and Pastor, Superintendent Martin Phillips at Divine Love Church of God and Christ. He loved sharing and manifesting the word of God to others. He truly believed in the power of prayer and that everyone should have the right relationship with the Lord. He shared that belief with his family and friends. Elder Stepney was a fun loving man who enjoyed life and those he encircled. In his free time, he enjoyed having breakfast with his friend and confidante, Elder Peter Rankin. He also enjoyed going to the barbershop and conversing with "Jessie and patrons" as they tackled current events, sports and politics whether local or national. Some of his other friends, Clifton Clay, James Lewis, Ezel White, James Bradley just to name a few, will remember the camaraderie they all shared together and the fact that he was a true and genuine friend. His big smile and pleasant demeanor will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this kind and wonderful man. To know Elder Stepney was to love him. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lem and Louise Stepney; brothers, John Stepney and Jerry Stepney. Elder Frank Stepney departed this life to the Lords embrace on May 23, 2013, in Aurora, Colorado. Those left to cherish his memory and mourn his loss include his loving and devoted wife, Barbara A.
