Frances Pruitt

December 1, 1931 — March 14, 2016

On December 1, 1931, in Muskegon, Michigan, Frances was the fifth of eight children born to the union of Ike Hurst and Josephine Potts Hurst. She was very close to her seven siblings, Selonia, Betty Joan, Josephine, James, Ike, Ida Mae and Evelyn. At a young age, Frances accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior. Frances was so kind, loving and was always willing to help someone in need. She found much pleasure in cooking, reading and caring for others. When Frances Hurst met Arlee Pruitt it was love at first sight. Often referred to as the "Love Birds" their romance was a celebration and they chose to unite in Holy Matrimony on July 4, 1957 in Muskegon, MI. They moved to Denver, Colorado the following year and started a new life. In 1967, they were blessed with their one and only child, Micaiah Arlee. Frances had a strong desire to learn and spent many years researching medicine and became a Registered Nurse working with Psychiatric and Mental Health patients. She retired from nursing after approximately 25 years. During her retirement years, she spent time volunteering at the Food Bank of the Rockies, and was a scholar of the word of God, graduating from the Institute of Biblical Studies. Frances attended Rose of Sharon Church of God in Christ where she taught Sunday School every week until her death. Frances truly loved the Lord and was the example of a good and faithful servant. Through all of the ups and downs in life, she remained steadfast and trusted God. He blessed her abundantly and on March 14, 2016, France M. Pruitt fell into His arms. This is not goodbye but in Christ Jesus this is just a flash of time and we will be with our loved ones for all eternity. Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Arlee Pruitt; her parents, and four siblings. Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Micaiah (Cassandra) Arlee; three sisters, Selonia Jackson, Betty Joan (Willie Joe) Shackelford, Josephine (John Wesley II) Hurst Heath; two sisters in-law, Vernell Chapman and Mary Alice Richardson; one brother in law, J. T. Pruitt; many loving grandchildren and several great grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
