Florine Burnell

Florine “Flo” Burnell, of Rockford departed this earthly life April 3, 2023 in Denver, CO. She was born January 21, 1932 in Emmitt, Arkansas the daughter of David and Luerenda Evans. Florine lived in Rockford since 1950 coming from Emmitt, Arkansas. She was employed by Powell Laundry 7 years, before becoming a machine operator for Atwood Industrial over 20 years before retiring in 1983. Florine was a member of Providence Baptist Church, serving on the Mothers Board, a faithful member of the Senior Usher Board; head of the Youth Ushers and member of the Kitchen Committee. Florine graduated from Yerger High School in Hope, Arkansas.

Florine leaves to cherish many loving memories, two sons, Benjamin Evans and Davis (Shirley) Burnell; five daughters, Belinda Bershell, Symiria Box, Perri (James) Thompson, Dawncinia Burnell and Melbaline Bell;  29 grandchildren, a host of greatgrandchildren; and great great grandchildren; godson, Robert McGrone; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends including special friends, Kenneth Burston, Sheryl Henderson, Michelle Allen and Ruby Coffee who she loved like a daughter. She was predeceased by her parents; son, Jeffery Burnell; grandson, Corey Burnell; six brothers and three sisters.

Services will be held 12:00 noon Monday April 17, 2023 at Providence Baptist Church 2209 Clifton Ave. Burial in Willwood Burial Park. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Arrangements completed by Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home Inc. 200 N. Johnston Ave.
