Fitszume Mathis

Fitszume Simone Woldemariam Mathis began her journey in Ethiopia, Africa on July 4, 1972. Mr. and Mrs. Melaku Woldemariam were so proud of their new addition to the family, as she was the second of two children born to this union. At the age of 12, Fitszume made this extremely long trip from Ethiopia to America. She moved to Los Angeles, California with her father and brother, Benyan. By this time, some would lovingly call her Fitz, and others knew her as Simone. Fitszume received her formal education in California, where she graduated from George Washington High School in San Francisco. As Simone began to live her life and discover who she was, she met a man by the name of Richard Tillmon. Their relationship and love would grow for one another, and in 1993, together; they decided to move to Denver, Colorado. In March 1994, Fitszume received the news that she was going to be a mother. On December 31, 1994 at 11:53 pm, Richard and Fitszume were blessed with a beautiful son, Dayron Tyron Tillmon. This was by far one of the happiest days of her life. Dayron would bring so much joy to Fitszume, as he grew, he loved to make people laugh, being one of the funniest kids a person could ever meet, he was nicknamed, "Busy." Fitszume returned to school at Emily Griffith Opportunity School, where she obtained her Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) License. Fitszune chose her profession as a CNA, and worked for 20 years at the Allison Care Center in Denver, Colorado to support her and her son. Her co-workers remember her a fun and very professional to work with. She touched so many lives and hearts with her gorgeous smile and friendly personality. Fitszume was a Christian, and made her walk with the Lord personal. In her free time, she enjoyed going out to eat with the family and watching movies. She did not take her time with her family lightly, they were important to her. Fitszume shared her time with her best friend, Tracy. Tracy will miss Simone's personality and the way she treated others in a good way. "If someone would have told me that October 28, 2014, would be the day that she would fall asleep in death… I would had kept her awake all day and night talking and threw my arms around her and squeezed her till she could barely breathe and say, thank you for being my mom! You did good! I Love You!" On October 28, 2014, Fitszume Simone Woldemariam Mathis entered into eternity from her home in Lakewood, Colorado. She leaves to cherish her memory and to mourn her loss, her son, Dayron Tyron Tillmon; her brother, Benyam Melaku Woldemariam; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends.
