First Robinson

June 23, 1943 — June 12, 2015

First Lady Bettie Joyce Robinson was born on June 23, 1943, in Waco, Texas to her parents, Nathaniel Geathers and Lillian DeGreate Geathers. She was the oldest of four children born in the family. The family relocated to Denver, Colorado in 1953. She completed her formal education by attending West High School. She furthered her education by attending Prairie View A&M University in Prairie View, Texas. On May 4, 1968, Bettie united in holy matrimony to the love of her life, Arthur E. Robinson. They exchanged vows at Holy Trinity COGIC in Denver, Colorado. He remembers his wife as a strong prayer warrior, a devout Christian woman and a loving, wife and mother. To this union two sons, Reginald and Arthur "Gene" and three daughters, Tereia, Danielle, and Schaquada were born. They remember her as a mother who was loving, kindhearted, compassionate, funny, caring, classy and a TRUE woman of God. She taught her children to "fear God and keep His commandments." She lived her life as a shining example of how a Christian should live. She was later blessed with twelve grandchildren Kameko, Kendrick, Breanna, Jordan, Chris, Jonathan, Jiera, Lamar, Jadah, Miyah, Maliyah and Malachi and two great grandchildren Destiny and Ari who were an additional source of joy and pride in her life. They lovingly called her "Granny, Grandmaamaa or Grandma "and fondly remember all the happy and precious moments they shared together. Bettie was a loving and devoted wife and mother whose primary duty was the care and nurture of her family. She cared for her mother in law, Mother Odrey Johnson. The bond shared by the two of them was unconditional and never ending. A woman of faith, Betty accepted the Lord as her personal savior at a very early age. When her husband answered his call to ministry, she faithfully supported and served. Bettie loved the Lord and humbly served in numerous capacities. These include serving as the Purity President, YWCC President, President of the Woman's Department, President of the Ministers and Elders Wives Circle. Bettie was also a Choir Director, Sunday School Teacher and active in Bible Band, YPWW and the Outreach Ministry. Whenever called upon or where there was a need, she did it willingly and was assured that "God would receive the Glory." She has served the ministries of Holy Trinity COGIC, Campbell Memorial COGIC and at time of her passing, Antioch COGIC. Bettie was a fun loving woman who enjoyed life and those she encircled. In her free time, she enjoyed reading, walking a mile several days a week and lifting her 3 lbs. weights. She was very active in the prison ministry and her weekly prayer lines. She also loved listening to her favorite praise and worship songs. Bettie will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this Queen of a Woman and Faithful Woman of God. To know Bettie was to love a special jewel. She is preceded in death by her parents, Nathaniel and Lillian Geathers and a sister, Barbara Veney. First Lady Bettie Joyce Robinson joined family and friends who preceded her in death on June 12, 2015, in Denver, Colorado.
